Easy origami egg holders

These easy origami egg cups are folded from 6" squares of origami paper. They took me just a minute or two each, and any decorative paper will work. You could whip up a bunch and put one at each place setting for Easter brunch. Coordinate the paper colors with a flower centerpiece and wrap the vase with a strip of matching paper. See how to make your own with this video tutorial by YouTube user 1petiteSorciere. Cute!

Easy washi tape Easter egg holders

DIY washi tape Easter egg holders
If you need something to keep your boiled eggs from rolling all over the table, try making paper holders decorated with washi tape.

Download and print the egg holder template at 100%.

Apply decorative tape over the surface of each band. I used washi tape and patterned duct tape.

Cut out the bands and the slots. Since washi tape is slightly translucent, it's easy to see the trim lines through the tape.

Form each band into a circle and hook the slots together.

Have a beautiful Easter weekend, everyone!

Make an origami bunny for your Easter table

Fold a large origami rabbit for Easter
Wouldn't it be fun to have a litter of origami bunnies for your Easter centerpiece? Do big ones, like this guy I made. Or decorate each place setting with a smaller rabbit. Or hide them around the house just for fun.

This bunny model is designed by Stephen O'Hanlon and demonstrated by Mari Michaelis in this step-by-step video. Mine is made from an 18" square of sketchbook paper. It's much thicker than origami paper, and thus harder to fold, but the resulting rabbit is quite a sturdy fellow. He's about 9" tall.

Then after I folded him, I saw these printable rabbit chocolate bar wrappers at Mini-eco. You could have a thoroughly origami Easter!

DIY Pantone Easter eggs

The graphic designer in me couldn't resist attempting faux Pantone Easter eggs.

I dyed these boiled eggs by standing them vertically in small cups of dye. Then I typed up the labels and printed them on ink jet temporary tattoo paper. Remember to print the words backwards! I used Silhouette brand tattoo paper I bought at my local PaperSource, but you can also get similar stuff elsewhere. I matched the color numbers using my chip book. Knowing they were correct gave me great inner satisfaction.

Make an origami Easter bunny

Follow along as Sara Adams demonstrates how to fold a little origami rabbit right here. The bunny is designed by Jun Maekawa. I have no idea how a person picks up a sheet of paper and figures out how to fold a three-dimensional rabbit from it. Amazing.

Origami bunny favor boxes

You know I have a weakness for 3D paper anything, so when I saw an instructional video for origami rabbit cups designed by Jacky Chan at Origami Spirit, I had to try it. The video moves along briskly so I had to rewind repeatedly, but I prevailed. Hey, now that nobody uses tape anymore, is it still called rewinding? What's it called? But I digress. Go fold some Easter bunnies. If you use 6" origami paper, an egg will fit nicely inside.

62 ways to decorate Easter eggs

Check out the massive collection of egg-decorating techniques over at Martha Stewart. Last year I attempted to dye eggs with silk neck ties (also included in Martha's roundup, I believe), and I gave my results a D on the egg-dying report card. I think this year I'd like to do something with tape. Shooting for a B+ this year.

Easter craft idea

These happy spring papercraft characters look like a fun project to do with the kiddies. (Well, I have no kiddies, so I don't know how old you have to be to make these. I think an advanced 18-month-old could probably pull it off.) Templates and instructions are available for $4 from Mibo right here.
