Printable advent city

Have you seen this cool, make-it-yourself advent calendar at Mr. Printables? Build a set of geometric-patterned boxes that look like buildings, numbered 1 - 24, to form a Christmas city.

Do we build a house a day, or put them all up and then demolish them one by one?

NINA!! *gasp*

What I was going to say, Jess, before I gasped at Nina's comment, was that you could make the houses and glue them to your door and have a 3-D city! ;)

adorable! do you think that i could polyacrylic them (like you did with your origami snowflake?). am loving these and want them to make an annual appearance (but would like to make them a little more durable with poly?)

Brushing on polycrylic will probably make your paper curl since it's a liquid, and if you use an inkjet printer, the colors will bleed if they get wet.

You're probably better off laminating the papers. Kinkos or someplace will laminate for you, or you could try clear contact paper (though it might make your prints look a little cloudy, not sure how crystal clear it is), or if you've got lots of clear packing tape on hand, you could laminate the building panels with that before you cut them out.

How cool to build a city and not worry about permits.

It would be neat to cut a few windows out from each and then thread a string of lights from one to another. Lit on the mantle and maybe on some "snow" or nestled in boughs? You have me thinking!

I love this! I haven't started decorating yet, but this will get me in the mood for all things christmassy.
