Make a geometric origami garland

If you like folding paper, here's a pretty origami garland to try. Each "bead" takes half a sheet of origami paper. (Preferably a different color on each side.) It's time consuming, but I love how it looks. It's a good, repetitive activity to do while watching Christmas movies you've seen a hundred times.

Learn how to make it from Daily Origami's YouTube video tutorial. The design is by Toshie Takahama.

I didn't have a long enough needle to string them, so I used a piece of thin wire bent double at the end to form a hook. I poked holes in the ends of the beads first with a real needle, then used my make-shift needle to pull the thread through.

So much fun! The garland reminds me of a toy I used to have. Fond memories...

I have been mulling over your painted tree lights. Did you mention how you did it in a past post? I happened to tell my husband that you had painted your lights and he thought it was a great idea! I'm wondering how hard it was and would be. Thanks, Jessica.

Suzanne,

Here's the saga of the tree lights! Taping the bulbs is a pain, but it was worth it.

Hi there Jessica-

I began following your blog a few days ago after I found your post on this garland. I hadn't looked at the instructions until this morning after I had bought origmi paper. Unfortunately this vdieo has been labeled private. Is there anyway you could email me or post instructions on how to do this origami project?

Thanks so much!

Shucks, I'm sorry the video is gone now! Because I don't remember how to make these! It's been too long, and I just followed the video when I made them. You could try an internet search with the designer's name and see if there are other videos or instructions out there.
