Recent work

Maybe you've noticed that I don't usually post my graphic design work for clients here. I freelance part time at a design studio, and I don't feel at liberty to write about those projects since the work is for companies who have hired the studio, not me directly. And some of the jobs I do for my own clients are probably not interesting to readers of this blog.

That being said, here's a project I deem "fun enough" to make the blog. Let me introduce you to Brooke Schwab Photography. Brooke Shepard contacted me about tweaking her existing logo a bit and developing some stationery for her business. Here's a sample of her lovely work:

Brooke wanted a new, fresher color for her existing logo and selected a cheerful golden orange (Her idea--I don't make all my clients choose orange, honest! Though I do love it, so I was happy to comply :) We also tightened up the type a bit. I designed a few stationery layouts to choose from, and here's the final product.

To see more of Brooke's wedding and portrait photography, visit her blog and website (transitioning soon to the new look!)

Tightening up the type makes a lot of difference. And the orange feels more fresh and modern.

I really like it! Less white space, and more focus on her name and the color orange. I love orange too!

Much much better! And so sweet.

I'm fan of your blog! But I'm not sure about the new logo. I like how you reduced the size of the icon and the new color is beautiful! but the word "photography" is too big taking away the focus of her name. Maybe 1 point smaller and lighter?

The pattern on the envelope is splendid!

Thanks for your feedback, guys.

i don't have an accoun yet: I think it's equally important to know what Brooke's business is and keep that second line looking like it belongs with the first, rather than looking like a straggly add-on. Ah, design is so subjective, isn't it?

But that said, the pieces are finished! No more changes! So all comments about how it could/should be altered will be futile, everybody! :) You're free to comment, but we're satisfied. It's a done deal.

Ahhh you're absolutely right! Design is very subjective. I'm glad your client is happy, it feels great! but it feels even better when you are.

=)

nice re-design, I always love seeing what other designers do with type and logos... as you say it's so subjective, and, I know I always benefit from looking at other people's work... thanks for sharing some of your pieces... The plum pudding is Awesome Fun
