Vintage map duvet cover

Something that's making me happy: this New York City map duvet cover I just put on our bed. It's all vintagey and likes being in our old house, and the design satisfies my love of graphic prints. The price satisfied my wallet, too: it was $35. I googled for an H&M coupon and then ordered the pillow sham / cover set here.

I was also tempted by an orange and white number at CB2 and had fleeting thoughts of this floral explosion at Urban Outfitters. Fleeting because Alex instantly vetoed it, and I reluctantly admitted I'm not really a flowery girl. I'd get sick of it in two seconds. This botanical print seriously grabbed me, though.

But the Manhattan map reminds me of a sweet trip I took to NYC with Alex last year. It was so perfect, it could never be duplicated if we tried. We stumbled on a filming of Project Runway in Times Square, saw Tina Fey on an escalator, ate chocolate croissants in Central Park, and discovered a jazz age social on Governor's Island— where we bumped into Bill Cunningham two days after watching this great documentary about him. We couldn't believe our luck. So our bedspread will always bring up happy memories.

I've been really eyeing their duvets but worried about the 144 thread count - how does your duvet feel? I'm more worried about what it feels like when using it than the number itself

I'm totally satisfied with it. I washed it and put it on the bed. It's not suuuper soft, but definitely not at all scratchy.

And I like that there are snaps in the bottom opening instead of buttons. And there are two little "vents," one in each upper corner, so if the comforter inside shifts, you can reach in and grab it and pull it back up to the corners. If that makes sense.

Oh my gosh, love! I'm an urban planner so I love anything that maps out cities!!

I read about the snaps and love that! The vents are a great idea - even with ties my comforter always gets messed up. Thanks for the info! I guess for $35 its's worth a shot!

The vintage map is wonderful. Been shopping for one for myself but have had no such luck. I think the right bedspread/comforter is very hard to find. There are simply too many of them out there. I can't settle on just one.

I knooooow! It's hard.

You should be getting a kick back from H&M bc I totally just went and bought that duvet set! I love maps and it's such a great price. I was a bit worried about the thread count as well, so thanks for describing your experience with it. I'm excited about the vents you mention, our biggest gripe with our current duvet is that it always gets bunched up and jumbled inside!

I think it would also make an awesome giant piece of wall art. Cut out the map part and stretch it over frame as if it were canvas, or paste it to your wall using cornstarch and water. Or tack it up and add a little wood frame around it.

Where is your rug from? I love it!

We love it, too! We bought it from a Toms Price furniture store in Chicago, using a Living Social deal so it was around 50% off. The pattern is this one, but the rug is gray with white lines instead of the picture shown here. It's super soft, thick and cushy!

Thanks for pointing out this duvet cover.I loved it so much that I rushed to the H&M site to see if I could get it over here in Germany and YES!I bought it directly and now have it and it feels really good. I will be using it for the back of a quilt - just the thing I was looking for. So thanks again for sharing and greetings to you from Germany
