One of my favorite pieces on my summer closet, is a long, full, skirt -- big read and white flowers -- that looks like it's made form a 1950's tablecloth. Friend and I concluded it's upholstery fabric. Must be extra fun to conclude it's your own upholstery fabric.
Made a mother's day card printable today, thought you might like. Bit last minute, easy to make as folds in quarters on 8.5x11 paper. Nice accompanied by flowers or with gift card tucked inside.

I vote for having your mom make the skirt but I think you should definitely keep the applique. Nothing wrong with a little extra adorableness! (That's a word, right?) ;-)
