Giveaway: Sears gift cards | How About Orange

December 02, 2009

Giveaway: Sears gift cards

Sitting on my desk is a $200 gift card from Sears, and here's my dilemma: should I spend it on myself or on Christmas presents for other people? Look at all the cool goodies $200 would buy you from the Sears website. (If your name is Jess and you like orange things and modern patterns, that is.) That doormat is calling my name. However, my mom is a huge Lands End fan and might never let me hear the end of it if I don't get her some socks, at least. While I ponder this moral dilemma, there's good news for you, too.

To help you with your holiday shopping, Sears is giving away two $50 gift cards to How About Orange readers. The cards can be used in stores and online at Sears, Kmart, and Lands End, so you have tons of options.

To enter the drawing, leave a comment on this post with a way of contacting you, plus one thing you'd like to buy with your gift card. (I need Christmas gift suggestions, so I plan to read through here and steal all your ideas.) The giveaway ends next Wednesday (12/9/09) at midnight CST. Two winners will be selected by a random number generator, announced in this post, and contacted.

Update: Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winning commenters #165— Jessie, and #636—Lynnetta. Happy shopping!

I would definitely get some Lands End snowboots for my girls. We just had the first snow of the season and they were tromping around in mary janes!

I'm graduating from nursing school next semester and hopefully, I will be able to get my own place at the same time. It will only be me and my cat in the new place, but I still need home furnishings! I would use the gift certificate to buy all those little odds and ends a person needs for a new place to start my adult life!

We recently cleaned out our kitchen and got rid of old spatulas, under-used zesters and all kinds of other hand tools that we never used. Oddly, that move resulted in the realization that we've been missing some essential tools all along! I'd absolutely use a Sears gift card to buy some new & needed kitchen tools to fill our drawers and help make us better cooks!

Jeez! Giving away near Christmas day? You're totally in sync with the Holiday!

& Since you asked...

I'd love to purchase (assuming that the sears cards could work in sync with Kmart (they're branched together?)...) Martha Stewart stuff! goodies! things! It's her last year at Kmart & I know I'd love to have a few boxes of ornaments and wrapping paper. Macy's will never be on the same wavelength (especially in terms of price). & If I couldn't use it there, I know there would be a few tools my dad would love to have from sears.

Thanks for the chance!

Oh how I adore the Martha Stewart holiday line at Kmart. Things every girl needs: pretty wrap, ribbons, tags and a couple new garlands. I bought red and lime pom poms last year and have them draped above my windows this year. They are charming!

Perhaps a good gift would be some of Martha’s cute kitchen storage containers with a holiday treat inside (I was thinking something simple like chocolate almond popcorn – I’ve made it and it’s great, the recipe is on Martha’s site). The containers are functional and cute and will get used again!

I'd use it for something for my husband for Christmas. I'm laid up after having surgery for colon cancer and he's been so wonderful since my diagnosis last week, and now my recovery that I'd like to find something special for him.

I love gift cards! I would totally get a spoon rest...I don't know how I've survived so long; I always have a huge puddle of soup in between my burners. But I would give it to a roommate and kill two birds with one stone. Yay Christmas presents!!

Thank-you for the generous giveaway. I'd buy a wrench set for my guy and a spice rack and baking pans for myself.

This year we are opting to only buy gifts for the kids in our family. Unfortunately, we cannot afford more. These gift cards would so great. I could buy gifts for my parents and siblings. Sears has it all and I am sure I could spread that money and make it go a realllly long way.

I'd love to use the card in the portrait studio. Hubby and I had a portrait done in 2000...2010 would be a good time to do it again!

Ooo - get a kitchen aid, if you don't already have one...holiday baking and such.

...I don't think I've ever bought ANYTHING from Land's End. Do they make comfy, cute leather shoes? (I'm trying to swear off plastic, pleather or who-knows-what Target shoes.)

Well, with your gift card, it sounds like you could probably afford a few pairs of socks for the woman who brought you into this world! :)
