Giveaway: Sears gift cards
Sitting on my desk is a $200 gift card from Sears, and here's my dilemma: should I spend it on myself or on Christmas presents for other people? Look at all the cool goodies $200 would buy you from the Sears website. (If your name is Jess and you like orange things and modern patterns, that is.) That doormat is calling my name. However, my mom is a huge Lands End fan and might never let me hear the end of it if I don't get her some socks, at least. While I ponder this moral dilemma, there's good news for you, too.
To help you with your holiday shopping, Sears is giving away two $50 gift cards to How About Orange readers. The cards can be used in stores and online at Sears, Kmart, and Lands End, so you have tons of options.
To enter the drawing, leave a comment on this post with a way of contacting you, plus one thing you'd like to buy with your gift card. (I need Christmas gift suggestions, so I plan to read through here and steal all your ideas.) The giveaway ends next Wednesday (12/9/09) at midnight CST. Two winners will be selected by a random number generator, announced in this post, and contacted.
Update: Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winning commenters #165— Jessie, and #636—Lynnetta. Happy shopping!

I would love this gift card! Ever since my mom died, I buy my dad his new winter sweaters from Lands End. It was a running joke in our family. Every year from Christmas my dad would get sweaters from Land's End from my mom and my mom would get an outfit from Talbot's. Being the only girl, I kept up my mom's tradition and continue to buy my dad his sweater's for Christmas. He loves it! Thanks for the opportunity! Marnie Peck

I would buy some festive towels, hand towels and dish towels. I would also buy some much needed new bath mats for the bathroom. They are not something I can purchase right now, due to the poor state of my income, but would be a nice festive uplift for the holidays and doesn't a new rug brighten any room? This is awfully nice of you and lots of fun. Sort of a letter to Santa type thing!

I vote for spending $100 on you and the other $100 on gifts for others. It might not get you too far either way, but there's much less guilt involved. :)
If I were to receive the gift card, I would give it to my husband's daughter (step-daughter sounds ugly) so that she could purchase whatever luxuries that she has never had in Cuba. (Makeup, Shoes, Clothes, Bed Linens, Etc. or just as far as it will go.) She's 18 and moving in from Cuba on the 20th.

I would buy a cute little hat and scarf to wear myself while waiting to pick up the kiddos at school (and it's so cold and windy standing there), a polar fleece each for the two girls, a polar fleece jacket each for my son and the hubby. Of course, I will need more money to purchase all that from Land's End, but it would be worth it, they have great stuff.
I would buy a Women's Regular Down Vest... not sure why I want one of these so much but I really do.

This really is a great Christmas gift and makes preparing dinner so much easier for the on-the-go person.

Good luck to everyone who entered!
I have been checking out a parka at Lands End to keep me warm this winter -- and it just went on sale!

I'd have to hit the toy department for my nieces and nephews for Christmas. I love toy shopping for the little ones!
I would buy Christmas eve pj's for my kids, OR, my 8yo dd wants Uggs for Christmas. If I could find something similar, I'd get those. I can't justify $100.00+ boots for a child that age.
Thanks. Love this blog!

My husband and I used to make a nice waffle breakfast with fruit every saturday morning together as our treat for the week, but our waffle iron broke a month ago and we just don't have the extra cash to buy a new one. So I would get this waffle iron that makes heart shaped waffles for us and our happy Saturdays!

I would definitely buy things to decorate our first house: mirror, glass ornaments, candles, etc. I haven't been in a Sears in a while though (we were out of the country for a couple years).
I think I would like to buy some baking supplies...something cast iron sounds good.
