Felt ball ornaments

I tried making yesterday's project out of felt. Equally cute, I think. And more durable, too. To make them, follow these instructions, but use felt and a hot glue gun instead of paper.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the paper version was "I wonder how they'd look in felt?" So thanks for trying it out! Both versions look so pretty!

I love the magazine look, but the felt is gorgeous. Great idea!

the next step should be to try them as a felt garland, so fun!

Hello ladies!
I bet these look great as felt brooches too! You can simply do a half-sphere and add a normal safety pin on the back (be careful to position it or the brooch will bend out...).
Believe me, I have few very similar made by some friend and they're totally lovely! Thanks for the tutorial: now I can easily make my own :)

Cheers!

Love it. I've done the ornament exchange with the women in my family for this year so I'm filing this one for 2010.

I did the very same thing yesterday. We only used 9 circles instead of 10 so that the formed circles stayed open. Today we are planning on adding clear glass glitter to the edges of one and small pearl like beads in the center of each "cone" on the other. An acquantance at the flea market in NJ used to make these from thin copper with the edges trimmed in the metallic tape used in stained glass. They were gorgeous. I plan on undertaking some once our move is over and I can find my metal shears again.

i made one too. mine was red and green felt. i sprayed it down with starch after i finished to stiffen it up a little. i wished i had used my glue gun, i used little stitches.

These look so cool!!!

Alas...as I am unable to cut a circle out of felt (damn my mother and her crappy scissoring lessons!)my attempt was sorely lacking... it was downright pitiful!

I will next attempt these with paper!!! And, a circle cutter!!!
