Monday sewing

Yesterday I showed a friend the bag from the last post, and she said, "YOU made this? Are you feeling all right?" She's obviously aware that sewing makes me want to smash things. So get a load of this. I made another bag last night. Hell must be freezing over. This one is from the adorable, free Buttercup Bag pattern from Made By Rae, with Beads fabric. And I didn't even bleed on it like usual.

Ooh, I love that!

I just finished three of these for my nieces! I love this pattern!

Love it! How did you get the little button tab so nicely shaped?! Mine looked like a two year old made it! :(

Jessica Jones said...

Mine originally came out too tall, so I cut some off and resewed it. Mine looks like an 8 -year-old made it, so I guess that's not too bad. I turned the hand cranky wheel thing to go around the corners since I didn't trust my lead foot. Maybe that helped.

Love it.
Thanks for the free pattern link.

is pretty big- about the size of a duffel

vintagey-feeling

absolutely adorable!!! My niece's birthday is coming up this summer and if I can find some "cool" fabric this will be perfect. That purse looks so professional, I hope mine turns out the same! :)

I love the purse you made! Would you consider making more to sell at your etsy store?

It makes me wish my sister hadn't "borrowed" my sewing machine!

You know, in the costume biz, bleeding on a garment is good luck!

Sewing makes me want to smash things and put a hole in the wall and break the machine. I still have my sewing machine that I received as a Xmas gift in 3rd grade. Um, I think I need to upgrade and maybe that will help. I can't even figure out how to thread it!

I think you are quite good, becuase I am the worst!

Jess, you are a pretty good sewer for all your talk... is that the right word, "sewer", it looks like thestinky place where water goes.

I just cut this pattern out of my favorite fabric!
I have been itching to make it and I am SOOOOOOOOOO thrilled to see your beautiful bag. I can't wait to sew it up for my friend's bday.

thanks for sharing

That looks great! I love the fabric you used for it.

I've made myself a couple of these bags, and they were such a satisfying project, I want to start making some to give as gifts.

For the people asking for her to make more for Etsy sales, the free pattern is licensed for personal use only, so you'll just have to find a sewer friend to make you one as a gift. :)

Ashlee said...

I love it! I want to make one.

Heide said...

Fab! It really is all about the fabric. I've been wanting to make the Buttercub bag, but then I saw some I didn't love so much. But yours is great, so now it's back on my to-do list!

Heide said...

Um, buttercup, not buttercub. That makes it sound like a delicious baby bear.

Jessica, You're hilarious! I feel the same way about sewing. I admire the people who can do it and are so talented, I just don't have the patience. I remember ripping out alot of seams in "Home-Econonics" class.

Your purses turned out great!

Adorable bag! Sewing makes me crazy too! I am always excited after I finish something, but sewing it is a nightmare. Arg! :-)

Too funny. I made the exact same bag (different fabric) last night.

It's absolutely darling! Please tell me you'll start selling these in your shop!

Great bag! I couldn't sew if my life depended on it. Funny, I want to learn though!

Jessica Jones said...

Thanks, guys! Currently the pattern is for personal use only, so I wouldn't be allowed to sell any in the shop. You'll have to bribe a friend to make you one as a present!

Thanks for showing this bag in this fabric!!! I have this pattern and I've been eyeballing your new fabric. This is the one I'm considering!!! Yeah!! I love it!! I just might have to order some. : ) And then all I need is the time to put it together.

Wow-- I love that fabric and the design is great! You should definitely sell these. All that money you will make might make up for the need to smash things when you sew:-)!
