Gifts to make: for the home

We've got a long weekend coming up, so if you plan to make your own holiday gifts (or are just bored out of your mind at home), here are some ideas. I'll post more on Tuesday and Wednesday so you'll have no shortage of lovely things to make after Thanksgiving.

Oak leaf bowls at Martha Stewart
Appliqued no-sew bird pillows from Good Housekeeping
Book-based artwork, also from Good Housekeeping
Patchwork kitchen mat from Sew, Mama, Sew
Lotta Jansdotter's wall organizer (pictured above) at Living Creatively
Cute storage crates from Laura Gunn
Wood wall clock at DesignSponge

Another great use for the hanging wall pocket is to make one for the car. When I was a kid my Mom made something really similar for our car. She attached it to the back of the driver or passenger seat and it held my markers, coloring books and traveling games. She used ties at the top to tie it to the headrest and the bottom was tied somehow as well (I don't remember this part-but I'm sure we are all creative enough to figure it out). This could make a great gift for families with young children!

I made the oak leaf bowls and they look adorable! I also love the felt strip trivets that look like wood slices from the same issue. Oh that Martha!

I made the Lotta Jansdotter wall panels this fall and love them! I went with orange and this A. Butler fabric: http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/showImage.php?img=/images/fabrics/10_HDABS14_Bright%20Buds_Ivory.jpg

And couldn't be happier! My seams aren't all that straight but they've created tons of extra space for me!

I just found this on The Color + Design Blog:

http://www.colourlovers.com/blog/2008/11/17/orange

It's a beautiful sampling of many things orange. I though you might appreciate it.

And thank you for all the fabulous links! I spent an hour yesterday wandering through all of the websites!

Yay! Thank you for posting some craft ideas...this year I will need to make pretty much ALL of my gifts (I think a lot of people are in the same boat, silly economy...) and for some reason I am totally at a loss for ideas. Your old "tutorials" posts have certainly helped me get started!
