My mind hurts

I made something else from that Japanese origami book. I photocopied some pages and a friend translated the instructions for me. (Thank you, Jamie.) I thought this would be a quick, fun little project: make a book cover with a nifty pocket in the back. It turned out to be quite hard. I had to think a whole bunch and spent a lot of time staring in bewilderment. But I got it!

Wow! I love origami and that is such a great project. Any chance you could give more details on the instructions, etc?
Thanks!

Lindsey, I wish I could. But I can't think of how to do that without it taking huge amounts of time, and it's complex. And if I try to scan the pages, I think it might be a copyright infringement. And still a bunch of work. Um, order the book and cough up the money to pay the big shipping price?? That's all I can think of! I wish they would publish it in English and sell it here! It's a really cool book.

that would be a great cover for all those books that i loan out, a place for the checkout cards without having to glue it to the book. Oh and I love the table cover or whatever it is sitting on.. the green thing, is that a tablecloth?

Beautiful!!

Growing up, I always loved having a pocket in my journals. Great place for love notes, cards, ticket stubs, etc.

Congrats on completing the piece!! It def looks like it was worth the effort.

Jess, as your (un?)official translator, I want to congratulate you on actually coming up with a beautiful finished product. I knew you could do it, just as the more I translated the more I knew for sure that I couldn't...great job! The big question is, do you think you could make it again? Faster next time? Or, biggest challenge: teach me how to do it?! :-)

Could I make it again? Yes. Faster? Doubtful. Teach you? Maybe. I'd have to practice some first! We should have a paper folding party after I get better. Oh, and I made one of the mini books, too. That one was easier. But the paper I used was too thick. Hard to get precise folds. I'll get some other paper.
