Free bag pattern
Okay. I might as well stop writing my blog and just put a big old link to JCaroline's website up here and call it a day. All I do anymore is link to her projects. But I can't stop myself, because she just put up a tutorial for making a really cute hobo bag. It's curvy, it's casual, it's got a zippered pocket inside. Get the free downloadable pattern and detailed steps with photos right here.

Wow! I want one. I need a sewing fairy. Or, maybe a sewing swap partner? In exchange for their sewing skills I can paper craft or cook for them. Even computer work. I just can't sew!
Great link, thanks for sharing.
Awesome! I've been wanting a tutorial for making a zippered pocket like that :)
OOOOOhhh thank you. You're a star for posting the link.
>^..^<***Purrrrfect pattern
I can't wait to make one now! Just one question - what is closed cell foam?
Thanks for posting the link. It is just the style I've been looking for.
Meredith: the term "closed cell" when applied to foam means that the little bubbles inside the material are whole and closed. The little bubbles inside open cell foam may not be whole. What this means is that closed cell foam tends to have more structural strength.
In this application, I would expect that a closed cell foam would provide more shape and strength to the bag.
The big question for me is what thickness of foam should be used.
i love this bag looks super simple too.
Ok this is crazy, i've been reading your blog for a long time and found Modern Flora fabric randomly on Caroline's website and i fell in love of course! (who hasn't!!??) I just saw today that YOU are the designer of said fabric. OK, i knew you were a genius but seriously - YOU ARE A GENIUS. My husband and i are getting a new house soon and i literally want to cover the entire thing in this fabric. i think we'll have to take out a home equity loan just to get your fabric seriously - I LOVE IT! i am so picky too. i can't remember the last time i felt this way about a particular print. ok, i'm done gushing, you just had to know my thoughts on this.. to say the least, Well Done!
This bag wouldn't look so beautiful if it wasn't made in your delightful fabric. :-)
This is great!
Wow, and I was just looking for a new purse. I might just have to make one for myself now! Of course, I'll have to buy some Modern Flora fabric first or it won't be nearly as cute.
Jen, you are absolutely right about closed cell foam. And yes, I forget to include my little blurb about it. I use one that is 3/16" to 1/4" thick. I updated the tutorial as well. Thanks for bringing that up- I sometimes forget that I'm not just talking to myself.
And Jessica, if you stop writing your blog, where will I get ideas from?
You've been given a kind-heart-award! Please check out

I think the knot in the strap is a unique touch! I like it!
thanks for the heads up! this looks like the perfect bag for spring and summer!!
I love your blog and your work. I looked at your gallery of stuff you've made and I was totally impressed. You have got some great ideas and a real talent, it's amazing! I love the fabric you designed and I especially love your vines paintings. Are any of them for sale? (The green one in particular...)
Oh, and I plan to make this bag. I've been looking for a pattern just like this one. Thanks!
Thank you, Kelsey. The little paintings have already been sold, I'm afraid. And I don't have plans to make more yet. Good luck with your bag!
thank you for sharing!
Thank you yet again! My mom-in-law just gave me her (40-year-old) sewing machine, and I cannot wait to make this bag! If only I could find some fabric as beautiful as yours...darn over-seas shipping costs (grrrrrr). I may have to cave in...
Great link ... thanks for that. The patterns I find are usually too simple looking and I can see them ending up as beach bags. But this one has lots of snazzy little features that are sure to create a sophisticated city bag ... assuming my sewing is up for the challenge!
thank you for posting this!! I was on the search for a great bag to gift my teenage neices and this looks perfect!!
Now I just have to figure out what type of fabric!
Hello! I LOVE this bag... I'm excited to start making it soon. But, I am not sure what kind of fabric to use. What would you recomend? How thick/stiff is the fabric you used? I dont want it to be floppy but I don't want a thick stiff canvas bag either. I would appriciate anyones help!! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.

OMG this so cool! Exactly what I wanted. SInce it's so late now, I'm gonna start sewing it tomorrow :]]
what are the approx size of this bag? It's super cute! Thanks for posting this. I am looking through my material now :)
I don't have the actual bag anymore, but it's about 12" wide and 10" tall, if I remember right. Don't quote me on that.
Link doesn´t work? =((( Can someone please email me the pattern? arraq@hotmail.com
