2008 greeting cards

I procrastinated too long to get Christmas cards out this year, so I opted for "Happy 2008" cards instead. Here's what I made. What a totally unexpected color choice.

Oh I loooooove those! I'm not sure if I've posted here before, so if not, hello! I'm Rebecca. I was drawn to your blog because my favorite favorite color is orange, and a lot of people think I'm weird for it! I love getting a fix of the color here. :)

Also, I have a question. Where do you get your cards printed, if you don't mind sharing? The last place I used had great quality, but shipped the cards to me loose in a big envelope! Half of them were bent by the time they got here!!

Thanks!

I always send New Year's cards instead of holiday ones for two reasons:
1) My family celebrates Christmas, Solstice and Kwanzaa. *whew*
2) I can never get my crap together in time for holiday cards.

oh my goodness! I usually LOVE what you do but I really don't like these at all... I think it's the combination of the color (don't get me wrong I love orange too) and the pattern. I just find them super offensive. Wow- this is a total shock

offensive??? funny! ha! I don't know if I've ever been offended by a cool little design like that! LOL!

I like it! Very clever!

Love the design! And the color!

I'm never able to get Christmas cards out. And I feel like a loser because I make cards. Eh well. My family has come to expect it by now.

Too bad the offended person chose to post anonymously. Whatta chicken! ;-)

I think the cards are pretty cool myself... and I'm not even prejudiced. ;-)

Very nice cards. I actually managed to send Christmas Cards this year. Yet I like the idea of New Year's cards as well. I mean who wouldn't want to receive a nice card like you made?

I'd really like to know who printed your cards. They look like they did a good job.

Very cute. And props for making cards because I never seem to get any cards out either. --I must be slow, I didn't even notice the "08" part until after reading the comments. :-)

Sorry I cant understand...."super offensive"???!!! I know.. english is not my language but if I'm right offensive = ofensivo (in spanish) same meaning... so... I guess this "anonymous" person choosed the wrong words... love the color, love the pattern... what is wrong, what is "supoer offensive"???....
ok, Jess I love them, a good and original idea!! (maybe thats "offensive": your creativity!!!) jajajaa

I've actually been wanting to do the same myself but can't even find the time after Christmas for this simple task! Love the design and colour, not offensive at all! :o)

I'm a big fan of these, too (the 08 is very clever!) and i'd also like to know where you had them printed. great work, as usual! :)

also, i obviously can't speak for anonymous, but i have a feeling s/he was using "offensive" to mean "unpleasant or disagreeable to the sense," not "causing resentful displeasure; highly irritating, angering, or annoying" (both definitions from dictionary.com). s/he said they didn't like the color/pattern, so that would make sense. we typically have the second definition in mind when we hear the word, but i have a feeling they meant the first!

these are wonderful, the little call out of the 08 in a darker color made me really LOOK at the pattern which is SO VERY clever and pleasing to my eye- perfect! happy new year to you!

I love them. I wonder if there's a time limit to sending New Year's cards out. Hmmmm.

I had these printed at overnightprints.com. They were inexpensive! The cards are super glossy, though—more so than I'd like, and selecting a matte finish doesn't seem to be an option on greeting cards. It is on postcards, though. They did come in an envelope that was too large for them, and some did have dog-eared corners, but I managed to straighten them out. They were okay.

I used VistaPrint once for cards, and although they're really cheap, you should be warned that they will put their own logo on the back and a line that says something like "Created at VistaPrint" without telling you. NOT COOL, because it looks then like VistaPrint designed your product. They do better with postcards, because you upload a front and back design, so there's no room left for them to put their own advertising.

So much brighter and happier than Christmas cards--I know they'll brighten up anyone's day that receives them in this dull part of winter with no holidays to look forward to!
