Fun for the long weekend

This is my last post until next week. Happy Thanksgiving! If cooking a turkey isn't enough to keep you busy in the meantime, consider testing the reading level of your blog.
We all must be very smart if I'm writing and you're reading at this level. I seriously question the reliability of this test. (Via the Right Steel Navy.)

If you want to further test your vocabulary, visit FreeRice.com. Apparently for each word you get right, they donate ten grains of rice through the UN to end world hunger. My vocab level came up 40 and I just donated 130 grains of rice, so I feel I've done my part and can now stuff myself on green bean casserole without any guilt. But seriously, this would be a fun way to build your vocabulary. (Via BB-Blog.)

P.S. After some internet research, I found an estimate saying it takes about 3,500 grains of rice to feed one person. Looking at the "Totals" page on FreeRice is interesting.

Apparently, both my blogs have elementary school reading levels. I did manage to easily donate 410 grains of rice very quickly, I might add. Something's not adding up here...

Yeah. I think the blog reading level tester is completely random.

You know mine all too well, I'm a-feared...

I donated 450 grains of rice, so I think I can safely eat corn pudding and turkey in two days. A great vocab builder, if nothing else!

You always have fun and cool sites to visit! How do you do it?

I donated 1650 grains of rice. When does the test quit? I just stopped cause I didn't have any more time

The tester can't be just random. My Blog rated a Genius level, too! Heheh....

Now I'm off to see if I can donate a grain or two of rice....

Awesome. I'm a genius like you

I only have a junior high level for my blogs. That makes me sad, I know my writing was terrible...no wonder my professors hate my papers:P

I managed half a bowl of rice before bedtime and got my vocab up to 41...I know some really wierd stuff! Can't tell you what I had for breakfast though!

Ahh ppffft...most newspapers cater to the grade six reading level. Isn't the idea to be able to make it more accessible and therefore INCREASE readership.

There is an implied snobbery that goes with that. How edu-mucated you are and all that crap.

Whatever. You have a nice blog and I like it. Period. You always have something to inspire me. Thanks.

That test is completely random. But you are still a genius.

That was fun. I had hoped my blog rated higher but I guess since most of the people I talk to (in Japan) are at about that conversation level, my vocabulary doesn't expand very much... Too bad.

The link above exposes how the "blog readability" meme is a trojan horse for a spammer. (Thanks to Pharyngula for the heads up on that one.)

Hmm. Then I'm glad I copied the jpeg image and reuploaded it to blogger so I can host it myself, just in case they switched it later.

Good for you! Most bloggers don't take the time to do that.
