Bridal shower photos
Here are some pix from the shower at my house on Saturday. My buddy Jill and I put it together for our friend Li.
We bought a set of notecards and divided them up into packets, complete with Love stamps, for guests to take home as party favors. Jill had the brilliant idea of asking the guests to write notes to the bride on the extra cards. Each guest sealed her note in an envelope and marked it with the date the message should be read (like "after your first fight" or "on your second anniversary.")
We also played a game where guests had to complete obscure proverbs from around the world. Every proverb had something to do with wives, husbands, marriage or love. We gave guests the first half of the saying, and then each person had to write an ending to it. All the endings were read, along with the correct answer, and players got a point for guessing the correct answer and for every vote their entry received. This turned out to be QUITE humorous. (I fished the proverbs out of the game Wise and Otherwise, which we love.)
The food and drink was mostly pink and orange-themed: punch, shrimp cocktail, mini quiches, Jill's work-of-art salmon tea sandwiches, and panna cotta topped with apricots, nectarines, peaches, and golden kiwi. I borrowed my neighbor's chocolate fountain and put out goodies for dipping, too. Yum. Thanks, Jenny.
Li, we hope you feel very loved and celebrated. Blessings and best wishes for a wonderful marriage!

ooh la la!! gorgeous shower, the colors, the food, it all flows so well. And those pom-poms, you gotta love 'em.
what a cute idea to make those pom poms mini! i saw them to wrap napkins but never thought of them as flowers! love it!
The sandwhiches are a work of art.
Really cute party...
This looks fantastic, Jessica! You are soooo creative :) I really love how the tissue poms look on the branches - that's a great touch! I might have to snap up some of your pictures for a "real parties" post on my blog too if you're up for it :)
Just gorgeous! I was addicted to making those pom poms for a while. You have a great style and a lovely blog!
What a lovely party you had!
I really like the idea of sealed envelopes. Those must be wonderful gifts which just don't finish at the party, but she can keep in her drawer and open many years later.
I'm totally up for a "real parties" post at the hostess blog! Use any pix you want.
And Megumi, I thought it was a great idea, too. I just hope she doesn't lose the "open on your third anniversary" envelope. I'm not sure I could hang on to something that long without losing it :)
please please please tell me there's a place to buy awesome colored tissue paper (like bright pinks, oranges, and lime green) at a store. or is there a great place online? I'm planning a wedding and i'm looking for those colors to make a TON of these things. :)
my bad. people answered me over on the other post. oops. but if anyone has any other ideas.... let me know! :)
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your great ideas! I loved your list of 8 things about yourself. Yours is my favorite so far.
Jessica, you are amazing! How thrilled the bride must have been. Happy Sunday - Katy
When my maid of honor was hosting my bridal shower, she and I wanted to coordinate our invitations so the bridal shower invitations would match my wedding theme and wedding invitations. We looked online and found a few places that great bridal shower invitations and wedding invitations that could be personalized with our own wordings, Bridal Shower Invitations, Holiday & Christmas Wedding Invitations and Wedding Announcements. All these sites had lots of sample wording ideas for bridal shower invitations and wedding invitations. They also had lots of holiday and Christmas themed invitations for bridal showers and weddings. We eventually purchased from Cards Shoppe, and we were very glad we did. Our guests really loved our custom invitations and wanted to know where we got them. I really recommend these sites for your bridal shower or wedding!
Hi, I came here for inspiration for a bridal shower I was throwing and just wanted to say thank you. Everyone loved the pom poms and panna cotta (esp. me, lol).
