Look at this room that Sarah put together for her 14-year-old daughter, using my Calliope fabric on some cushions. How lovely!
If you'd like instructions for making some quick throw pillows, here's a tutorial for a simple envelope pillow, the easiest kind there is.
ooooo how fun!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable room - I love that!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sight! I dream of a window seat but I never lived in the right home. One day...
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect with those yellow walls. My spare bedroom has yellow walls. Hmmm....I may be seeing some redecorating in its future.
ReplyDeleteMy walls are the same color. :)
ReplyDeleteThe room is perfect. I love it! I might have to do some redecorating of my own...
I wish I had a window seat too! That looks like the perfect spot for reading - cosy and full of light.

Can she decorate my home too? Job well done. Love it.
ReplyDeleteWOw, that's one lovely room! I wish I could also have that kind of design!
ReplyDeleteTo everyone wishing they could have a window seat -- maybe you could! I was drooling over some window seats I saw on the internet, thinking it would be many years before we moved somewhere with this kind of space... then realized I could have one after all.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a sort of toybox/window seat built under one living room window. To be able to use it best, I think a window seat should have a place to lean one's back... so we're also building a much needed tiny wardrobe (which will also provide the 'back'), from the right of the window and window seat to the nearby wall.
Then, from that corner to the fireplace there will be built-in shelves for books etc. We have a small house with no closet or wardrobe on the first floor.
I priced all kinds of furniture to serve these functions but in the end it wasn't much more expensive to get something custom built with MDF, and this way we get to go right to the high ceiling and use what little space we have. We'll paint the MDF, probably the colour of the (yellow) wall, so that it will 'sink in' a bit in the small space. It's hard to describe but I can't wait for the project to be finished. It will be attached to the wall, but will also be removable, so we could move it to another room or house if desired.
I hope this made sense. I'm just so excited about being able to create a window seat, wardrobe, and much needed shelving with such a small footprint.
Daphne, that sounds GREAT! Send me a picture when it's done!
ReplyDeleteTo make a window seat, all you need is a book case on each side and a bench in front of the window. my FIL made one in his house and one for me that has a large map in the center, rather than a window. It fills the whole wall in our library. You need handyman skills, sure, but maybe you have those and could build it yourself?
ReplyDeleteWow that looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute!!! the fabric really makes the room!
ReplyDeleteWindow seats are fine in their way, ie for decorative purposes only - the seats are always too high, and short people have to dangle their legs, and you can't lean back or you risk going through the window. (Cats like them though.) What I'd love in this house are some really deep windowsills.....
ReplyDeleteMy inner child is SO jealous! And way too messy to have a room this nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the yellow walls! Oh, a Windowseat is soooo cool idea, but for my room they would have to be a bite wider =)
ReplyDeleteI've ALWAYS wanted a window seat.
ReplyDeleteLove this room.
You aren't old enough to remember, but Captain Kangaroo had a window seat in which he sat while reading aloud from books like "Caps for Sale," and "The story about Ping."
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I knew two things--contented people read books, and lucky people did so in a window seat just like the Captain's.
I'm 14 and I would never want to reside in that room. It looks like it it was designed for someone less than half my age. I suppose I am just nowhere near as girly as Sarah's daughter.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a lovely room, though. It's well designed, sunny and it has that fantastic window seat.
