Online baby name picker

My friends are producing babies like crazy lately, so this is for you pregnant people. What a Lovely Name: a site that helps you choose the right name for your wee ones. Personally, I like the Other Worlds categories. I think if I ever get a hamster, I will name him Erlian.

The website will even help me order him a coffee mug with his name on it.

    So, if I want an independent, quirky, and wise being, the name choices are Albus, Bertram, and Bertrand. We may have to leave the country. Oh well, I am not a having another one anyhow.

    Too funny! I'll have to file that one away. Whenever I make a new stuffed friend for my shop, I always stare blankly at it for way to long, trying to come up with a name. Hence exciting things like "Polka Dot Giraffe..."

    Although jemjam's "Albus" is tempting, too. Maybe I have to get two hamsters. Erlian and Albus. These names are cracking me up.

    (Sorry to offend anyone who really did name their children Erlian and Albus. I'm sure I have just alienated a reader somewhere.)

    I had to post a comment. I decided to go to the site and highlight the three characteristics that describe my youngest son. It narrowed it down to one name - Tucker. That is the first name that we came up with when we were thinking of names. We eventually ruled that name out because someone else used it. Isn't that funny?

    Frankly, Jess, I think you should name your rodent Reepicheep, but that's me.

    I'm no use at this sort of thing, as I always suggest names straight out of the 19th Century, like Nehemiah or Herbert or Ferdinand. No doubt this contributes to my lack of a spouse...

    My grandpa's name was "Erling" – it's a Norwegian name. I'll have to look for it: now THAT's not a bad name!
