My friends are producing babies like crazy lately, so this is for you pregnant people. What a Lovely Name: a site that helps you choose the right name for your wee ones. Personally, I like the Other Worlds categories. I think if I ever get a hamster, I will name him Erlian.
The website will even help me order him a coffee mug with his name on it.
"Erlian", huh? Okay... as long as it's only a hamster!
ReplyDeleteMum (whew!)
So, if I want an independent, quirky, and wise being, the name choices are Albus, Bertram, and Bertrand. We may have to leave the country. Oh well, I am not a having another one anyhow.
ReplyDeleteOh my... that site could be quite addicting!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Erlian the hamster = cutest name ever!
Too funny! I'll have to file that one away. Whenever I make a new stuffed friend for my shop, I always stare blankly at it for way to long, trying to come up with a name. Hence exciting things like "Polka Dot Giraffe..."
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is great! Thanks!
Erlian? As in gotta get up 'Early in' the morning? :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, just like that! Ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteAlthough jemjam's "Albus" is tempting, too. Maybe I have to get two hamsters. Erlian and Albus. These names are cracking me up.
(Sorry to offend anyone who really did name their children Erlian and Albus. I'm sure I have just alienated a reader somewhere.)
I love this site. I was hoping to use the logo as my avatar but they do not have my spelling. Darn.
ReplyDeleteETA: Figured out I just needed to add the alternate spelling to the database.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO STINKIN' CUTE & CLEVER!! The thought of having babies makes me cringe...but this site is actually making me have 2nd thoughts....
ReplyDeleteI will use this to name the baby goat that we are getting. Great timing!
ReplyDeleteI love how you can suggest your own name to the site! Perfect for ppl like me with a name not commonly found on personalized stuff!
ReplyDeleteI had to post a comment. I decided to go to the site and highlight the three characteristics that describe my youngest son. It narrowed it down to one name - Tucker. That is the first name that we came up with when we were thinking of names. We eventually ruled that name out because someone else used it. Isn't that funny?
ReplyDeleteheehee! nice...
ReplyDeleteDarci: Your avatar is awesome. Best idea ever.
ReplyDeleteDeanna: That's just plain crazy. What are the odds?
Anonymous: Have fun with your new goat.
haha. i love it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE erlian!! I wonder if this would work when naming my furniture pieces?! hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteFantastically addictive.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, Jess, I think you should name your rodent Reepicheep, but that's me.
ReplyDeleteI'm no use at this sort of thing, as I always suggest names straight out of the 19th Century, like Nehemiah or Herbert or Ferdinand. No doubt this contributes to my lack of a spouse...
Stop telling those girls on the first date what you want to name your kids! Wait until you've got one hooked, and then break the bad news to her. :)
ReplyDeletewe have a baby due in april and i just spent way too much time on that site! thanks though, it gave us some new ideas!
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa's name was "Erling" – it's a Norwegian name. I'll have to look for it: now THAT's not a bad name!
ReplyDeleteThis was a completely addicting time waster!
ReplyDeleteBut thanks to your post I found a name I love... how beautiful is the name Raya?! Ooooh! LOVE it!
That was a fun website! Though I'm not too crazy about the design of their merchandise. Is a bit too blah.
