Our yearly room makeover

Over Christmas vacation I decided we should paint our guest room orange. Behr Poppy Glow 250B-6, to be precise. Alex obligingly helped, but made me promise we will not paint this room again for five years. Oh, fine.

Remember this makeover? I liked it. But I needed more orange.

I'll show you more details in future posts, but let me point out these great, affordable Rex Ray posters from art.com. And I know you're admiring our sleek, state-of-the-art TV.

How about this awesome The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly movie poster from Patent Pending Industries? (If you too must have one, it looks like they have a few left right here at Poster Cabaret.)

Are those purple pillows with an orange wall? I thought you hated that combo? Maybe that was someone else. I dig it.

Uh, yeah, that was me. They're left over from the previous room incarnation and I decided I didn't TOTALLY hate them. But if I find some good fabric, I'm recovering them. :)

It looks great! Leaving the top wall-boxes empty is just the kind of touch that works so well but never would have occurred to me. Which I suppose is why people like me are destined to copy people like you.

You made me laugh.

I think it's very pretty! Well, except for that Ugly poster. ;-)

Looks like you covered the chair seat with some pretty fabric. And I recognize some spray painted frames, too.

Yeah... empty wall boxes. I bet I could handle that style, too! (giggling)

Nice job!

Yes! You must leave some empty or it will look cluttered. Best of all... air is free. :)

I like the orange version of this room the best. After having visited your blog for the past few months, everytime I see something fabulously orange, I can't help but think of you!

I just love the way a newer-brighter colour can completely change a room and make it so much more comfortable. When I repainted my room from light blue to neon green it gave the whole thing a new personality which I love so much more! Thanks for the ideas!

Love the new color! And the posters are amazing. My hub and I are re-decorating one of our rooms soon too (I think I will be doing most of the painting though) and I hope it looks as cheerful as this.

I really loved the tree of your previous makeover, also I found the combination of colors and fabrics different, awesome and elegant.
I like the orange but I think the room has some details missing to make it truly special as in the last makeover.
BTW your blog is always source of inspirations, I love your ideas...

Hey, I think that's the same sleek, state-of-the-art TV I have. Ain't it a beaut?

Love the color. Totally worth not being able to change it for five years.

Sorry, about the delete, trying to get this to link!

Love the color! Here is my "orange" (Sherwin Williams,SW 7701,Cavern Clay) family room.
It is so warm and inviting. Southern exposure and bay windows...so it positively glows and changes shades all day. My daughter talked me into doing it. I was originally going to paint just the fireplace wall. So glad I listened to her!

That room looks pretty good. Gives me some ideas for a remodel for my room.

Hi! I actually had a question about the tree that you had painted on the wall in the room before your makeover. Is it a family tree with pictures hanging on the branches? Do you have a close-up of that wall that you could send to me? I've been wanting to do a family tree on my wall and yours looks great! My email is reneehuston@gmail.com

Thanks!

Jessica Jones said...

Not a family tree. Just a tree. See better here:
