VectorMagic, an online tool from some smart people at Stanford, will trace your raster image (an image made of pixels, like your digital photos are) and convert it to a vector image (an image made of smooth shapes and curves with hard edges that is completely scalable.) Here's my test. Via
Photojojo.
That's awesome for those who aren't blessed with Illustrator. I'm going to share that tip. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love online tools. Good stuff. thanks for the link to Photojojo. All of these things are new to me so I'm like a kid in a candy store filled with excitement.

Maybe it's because I don't use it correctly, but I've never been able to get Illustrator's autotrace to work that well. This is *very* cool! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteUmmm, I invented this like infinity years ago.
ReplyDeleteRight. Just like Al Gore invented the internet.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing! this is perfect for me, since i don't have any cool editing programs.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this great resource! i like drawing in photoshop better than illustrator, and this looks like a neat and simple way to get the nice quality that i'm looking for. i supposed i could just learn how to draw in illustrator, but you know what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks...
ReplyDeleteinteresting. it actually looks better than most live traces.
ReplyDeleteThanks! This looks really useful!
ReplyDeleteTwo words: Thank you. You have no idea how useful this program will be for my design. Keep them coming :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for share! very useful!
ReplyDeleteVery neat! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh how cool! This is something I have been looking for for a while. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAh, this will come in very handy for this year's holiday cards, which I drew by hand (and was about to re-draw in Illustrator)!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! My friends are constantly sending me things to convert over to vectors... now I can just send them here!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip!
