Use a magnifier as a tiny photo frame

We spotted this gizmo in a curiosities shop last weekend. It's a magnifying glass on a stand with two adjustable arms with clips. It's for repairing watches, jewelry, and electronics, but it's even cuter as a tiny picture frame for photo booth shots or old yearbook photos. It magnifies about 4X.

This doodad would make a cool gift for somebody who's into industrial decor, or who just likes weird things. Here's one like ours on Amazon: Helping Hands Soldering Hobby Station, $7.

I think that's the perfect photo in there! You don't need any others. Ahem.

Just make sure to keep it out of the sun, I'd hate for your photo (and anything else) to catch fire.

That's cute and a great idea! We have two of those from friends that used them for painting miniatures. They're in our closest for the past few years.

Aww, this is super creative idea! Definitely will try it, but first I have to find a proper pic. :)

As a scientist with a tendency towards sentimentality, I actually own one of these, legitimately, not begotten from a hobby shop, but from another much older scientist. Great idea! I've been wondering what to do with it!

There you go! We actually bought two--my husband plans to use his to do Actual Work at his job. He needs to inspect plastic films a lot and thinks this thing will be useful. Whereas I'm only in it for the decorating. :)

I was a film student who had to shoot and edit on actual film; I used this set up to display strips of 16mm film I shot. :)

Jessica- How large did you print your photo? 2x2?

Jessica Jones said...

1.5 x 2". Good guess!

I made one! Thanks for the great idea. My boyfriend just got a new job, and I gave this to him for his new desk.
