Free vintage printable images

Vintage Printable is a fascinating (though difficult to browse) archive of vintage photos, illustrations, and page scans. Files vary in resolution and the usage restrictions are a bit murky; most state "image in the public domain believed to be free to use without restriction in the US." I wouldn't build a corporate ad campaign based on "believed to be," but you could certainly make yourself some wall art, desktop wallpaper, or fun projects for personal use. Via Curbly.

It looks like a neat site. Too bad their coding doesn't seem to work properly on any computer I've tried :/ The search shows results, but then the images don't load.

Hi there, this is Swivelchair, the blogger from Vintageprintable.com.
Glad you all enjoy the images! As to the rights, as far as we are aware, the images are old enough to be in the public domain, and our position is that new scans of old images are not separately copyrightable. Sorry for any confusion.

I love your website!

I live in Germany and just wanted to let you know to be careful uploading German postage stamp onto your website. The Germans are very strict about copyright and a postage stamp is also a federal printed item. The lawyers here love to sue those violating copyrights.
