Make an origami star lantern

I learned how to fold this paper candle holder by following directions from Passengers on a Little Spaceship, right here. It's quick and fun! I used a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock. It was more difficult to fold than thinner paper, but made a very sturdy lantern. You can experiment with different sizes, colors, and thicknesses of paper. This size was good for a glass votive holder.

Here in Germany you can see these quite often at Christmas time made out of transparent paper in shades of red. It gives a nice glow and a very festive atmosphere.

I bet so! I want to buy some colored vellum. Crisp and translucent.

Are you afraid it will catch fire at all??

I do these kind of lanterns together with my pupils before Christmas with coloured transparent paper year for year. For myself I use the stronger parchment paper for it.
