Giveaway: Sears gift cards | How About Orange

December 02, 2009

Giveaway: Sears gift cards

Sitting on my desk is a $200 gift card from Sears, and here's my dilemma: should I spend it on myself or on Christmas presents for other people? Look at all the cool goodies $200 would buy you from the Sears website. (If your name is Jess and you like orange things and modern patterns, that is.) That doormat is calling my name. However, my mom is a huge Lands End fan and might never let me hear the end of it if I don't get her some socks, at least. While I ponder this moral dilemma, there's good news for you, too.

To help you with your holiday shopping, Sears is giving away two $50 gift cards to How About Orange readers. The cards can be used in stores and online at Sears, Kmart, and Lands End, so you have tons of options.

To enter the drawing, leave a comment on this post with a way of contacting you, plus one thing you'd like to buy with your gift card. (I need Christmas gift suggestions, so I plan to read through here and steal all your ideas.) The giveaway ends next Wednesday (12/9/09) at midnight CST. Two winners will be selected by a random number generator, announced in this post, and contacted.

Update: Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winning commenters #165— Jessie, and #636—Lynnetta. Happy shopping!

Wow, so many things I could buy. I love that owl pillow, but it is the season for giving. The one thing I would love to buy is a new drill for my dad. Love Sears. As a daughter of a carpenter/woodworker/jack of all trades, I spent many a day in Sears, checking out the Craftsman tools, among other things. My first sewing machine was a Kenmore (I loved that thing) and now they sell Lands End clothes. How great is that?!?

First I thought I would get this Hand-blender (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00890953000P?vName=Appliances&cName=Small+Kitchen+Appliances&sName=Blenders+%26+Juicers). Then I saw these other two (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00808455000P?vName=Appliances&cName=Small+Kitchen+Appliances&sName=Blenders+%26+Juicers or http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00854767000P?mv=rr).

Finally, I saw these shoes... (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05441905000P?vName=Shoes&cName=Womens&sName=Dress)

I'd probably end up paying for the shoes out of my own pocket.

I'd love a shot at this contest.

I am pretty relax about gifts, as long as they are not something I would return or just leave somewhere. I love tbuy just about anhting to do with getting family together. So a set of games or a movie to go with just to enjoy each others company would be nice.

Good heavens! I haven't looked through a Sears Wish Book in YEARS! But I'm feeling the lack right now!

I think I'd buy some yummy towels. I just got my nest emptied and it would be nice to own towels that are fluffy and soft!

Oooooh we are moving December 18th to a duplex. We could really use household stuff like a set of dishes or a microwave but buying our 2 girlies some toys for Christmas is way more likely. :) melanielunsford@hotmail.com

I think I'd spend it on myself... I have a four month old and I'm in desperate need of clothes to wear. The "in between stage" is awful. I don't fit in my skinny clothes, and I look and feel like a whale in my maternity clothes. Blast.

My sister told me that the Martha Stewart Christmas trees at Kmart are lovely and since I just lost another branch (the third one) off of my 20 year old fake tree I would probably look at those. Other than that clothes and toys for my boys or some cool Lands End shoes for me. Thanks!

Oh wow, that owl pillow is from sears? They've sure hipped up since I worked there in high school!

If I won a gift card, I would use it to buy some fabulous Craftsmen tools for my dad or jewelery for my mom. My husband's been unable to find a job since getting home from Iraq, and we are doing holidays on a budget, so I would feel very blessed to be able to get them nice gifts!

This sounds dumb, but it's so cold and rainy and grey here...I'd buy one of those cute bright colored stripey scarves and hat from Lands End, just to brighten up my atmosphere. NW Washington can get you bogged down at times. :( And sometimes...just when you figure you don't need gloves or a hat or scarf, you realize you haven't bought one for yourself in several years. Geesh. I am lame to myself sometimes.

I'm sorry, I can't help too much because if I were to win I would buy sewing books. I'm from Germany so we actually just have a few of the bestsellers here but we always have to get the real special books in America.
But I also have 3 little brothers and I never know what to get them for christmas... This year, I am getting the oldest a box that keeps your cell and all its cabels together while loading and I will personalize it with a little stitched racoon.
The smallest one gets Legos (he always does) and the middle one gets books. Something fantasy-like to distract him from his really stressful studies.

Oh, I don't know, I need all new unmentionables. But I'd really like a great pair of jeans.
I'd probably just save it though to help set up house when we move next summer.

Today, I was at the hospital for a patient council meeting, and I passed the "giving tree." I selected an infant boy and the mother was asking for a diaper bag. So I think I would lean toward a Baby and Co, Chocolate and Blue for about 34.00. Then I would wander around Sears and pick up other baby boy items and, if there was money left over, I would try to find something warm adn fuzzy for the mother (either a great pair of slippers, or maybe a robe).
I think helping out this anonymous baby boy and his mother would be a fun use of the Sears cards.

After seeing my daughter daily using her Kitchen Aid grain mill attachment, which attaches to a stand-type Kitchen Aid Mixer, I want one too. I would use it to grind grains into flour for making homemade bread. I would grind my own hot cereal. Oh, ya... I can see myself using it daily, too. Two %50.00 Sears gift certificates would be nice... very nice.
