What font is that?

Do you guys know about WhatTheFont? It's a site that helps identify a typeface from a sample you submit. I've had hit or miss luck with it, but it's always worth a shot. As a test, I submitted my blog header because I outlined the type in "How about orange…" so long ago that I can't remember what font I used. WhatTheFont suggested it's a typeface I don't even have, so that's obviously not it. If all else fails, you can submit your sample to their forum and an enthusiastic type geek will probably identify it for you. WhatTheFont also comes as an iPhone app.

LOVE WhatTheFont! It's saved me so many times when i've had to design something and all I was given is the image file of the font.

Just a guess, but isn't your blog header done in Papyrus?

Thank you for sharing this! I have been wondering about a font I saw recently and I'm hoping this will save the day.

I recommend Identifont
http://www.identifont.com/
It helped me many times when WhatTheFont couldn't.
Love the name though! :)

I'm with Jinnie, I always use Identifont. Yours looks like some form of Jensen to me but I could easily be wrong.

Cool, thanks for the Identifont tip, ladies. I'll check it out. Sarah, you and WhatTheFont both agree! But alas, I don't own anything in the Jensen family. If I really want to know, I could retype it and try the serif fonts I have, I suppose. But I'm thinking it might be time to redesign the whole thing. We'll see.

I have the iPhone app - it's way cool, except it has problems reading cursive. Maybe the website version would work better.

Yeah! Can I tell you that you're my hero? For months now I have been trying to figure out the name of a font that I came across on a blog and have even seen in some magazines. With your help and WhatTheFont... I've figured it out! Thanks!

Looks like Perpetua.

It looks almost _exactly_ like Centaur, but slightly rounded out sharp corners.

Fabulous!!! I wish I'd known about that when I got married - I searched for a very long time trying to find a specific font (it turned out to be "Bewitched") that I wanted to use for the table cards, etc.! I wasn't really that manic about the rest of the wedding, but I had just run across something written in that and thought it would be perfect :)

When I outline a font in Illustrator, I make a notation in the "attributes" window of thename of the font and save it. However it is usually the ones which I forget to do this for that I need to know what it was!

Of course it is! :) Murphy's Law or something. That's a good practice. I'm gonna start doing it. Thanks!

I agree with Sarah that it looks like Jenson, though it's hard to tell without a bigger sample. I just finished setting a book with it--what a nice typeface!

The people at the Adobe type boards are also very helpful when it comes to identifying fonts.

I agree, identifont works really well :) And it looks like Jenson to me too.

Does anyone know what the font is that My Font uses for their logo? I love it, but can't find it... and I tried uploading it and came up with nothing. Thanks!!

Hi Elizabeth. It's not an existing font. It was a custom, hand-lettered design specifically for their logo. More info here!
