Wanna come to my house?

I'm always wishing I could meet you guys. This seems difficult since right now there are about 6,000 of you clicking over here on week days, plus another 7,600 subscribing to the feed. I can't fly you all here and fit you into my condo! Here's the best I can do:

I'm going to host a little holiday get-together for women (sorry, gents) at my place* on Thursday evening, Dec. 11, 7:30-10:00 PM.

I can fit 6 ladies in addition to a few friends I've invited (whom I'm going to recruit to make some yummy treats for us; they just don't know that yet :) It will be festive and fun, and we'll drink hot cocoa and eat lots of sugar and chat and make a bunch of these because they're easy and pretty.

So if you live in the Chicago area and you're not a serial killer and you don't mind making a trek to Evanston (I'm close to an L stop), email me and put PARTY in the subject line.

The first 6 people to RSVP are in. I'll send you directions and more details. When the 6 seats are filled up, I'll put a notice here.

*Note that the house will not be as clean as in the photo above, so please keep your expectations low.

UPDATE: The 6 spots are now filled. But if this turns out to be as fun I as expect, I'll likely host another one sometime. (Assuming no serial killers sneak in and ruin it for everyone.)

*sigh* I wish I could come. But a 9-hour drive seems a bit much. Thanks, anyway. ;-)

I guess that's a little bit far.

Invitation to your place!!! Wow!!! wish I could be there!! But from Cheyenne, WY, its a little far!!!
By the way, I'm leaving to India next week, is there anything you can think of which i can bring back for you! :)

Jessica Jones said...

I guess Cheyenne is even farther. Too bad, Nandini! India, wow. I don't know, but I made some chai in a pot yesterday (with darjeeling tea bags I found at the grocery store; I'm sure NOT authentic at all), and watched the movie "Bride and Prejudice" on Friday. I had a pseudo-Indian themed weekend. :)

Traveling all the way from Melbourne, Australia is actually tempting. Your place looks gorgeous and I'm sure the company and activities would be wonderful.
I look forward to hearing all about it.
Andi :-)

Your home is gorgeous! I'd love to see more pics if you feel like sharing :)

No serial killers?!?!?

You are *such* a snob, Jess! I guess that's what happens when you live in the ahem Greater Chicago Metro Area...*sniffs*

awww - wish I was local!

Di~ said...

Mee too! would love to come, what a neat idea! I'm in Idaho, and have never really seen Chicago, just 10 minutes of the airport! I'm wanting to try the snowflake, but not sure I "get it"!

abigail @ Paper and Cake said...

super nice house! eat cake for me?

Jessica Jones said...

I know, I know! I'm so sorry for any serial killers I have just discriminated against.

Andi, Violette, and Malinda, you may as well come and stay overnight, in that case.

J, you can see more of my place here at Apartment Therapy. Although we stuffed some crap into closets for that shoot, so picture it more cluttered.

Jessica Jones said...

D Spack, I wish I could telepathically show you how to make this. Or I wish I knew how to make a video. I think you can get it if you just start, and look carefully at the pictures. Maybe? I don't claim to be a good tutorial writer.

What a fun idea! I've always wanted to visit Chicago anyway. But coming from DC, it's a little far for a last minute trip!

I love all the creative ideas on your blog. You'll have to post pics of the party so all your readers can pretend they were there, too!

Ok here's "authentic" chai:
For a cup of tea, boil 1/2 a cup of water and 1/2 a cup of milk together, once its hot, add some grated ginger, a quarter inch piece should do, and 1-2 pods of green cardamom(open the shells and crush the seeds to a powder), once the milk starts boiling add tea leaves(maybe u can drop the tea bags if thats what u've got). Boil for a couple of minutes.
There you have it.. authentic indian chai

Nandini said...

ok forgot the sugar!! A teaspoon should do, i take three, depends on how sweet u want it

Well now I'm so glad I gave up my serial killin' ways! I'd love to come over! I am sending you an email now to see if you have already reached your limit...

Jessica Jones said...

And Nandini, thanks!

I love that there isn't a spot of orange to be found in the house of someone who professes the love of and made a name by the color ;). Your home looks beautiful, thanks for the invite. Alas I live near Denver, though I will be visiting family in Indiana soon and making a trek to IKEA! I've near been in one, I'm SO excited :)!

What a fun idea! I would love to come if I lived near you. (we're actually thinking of moving to the Chicago area next year). But for now we're in Pasadena.
Mostly, I'm just in love with your house. Is it really that beautiful and cute inside?
Hope you have a fun party!

Oh so sad! I'm too late! I live in Wheaton and would love to come! Oh well, maybe next time!

This is such a wonderful idea, and so generous of you. I wish I lived closer, since this might be a great opportunity to meet new friends with similar taste interests.

I really hope it goes well so you'll have an opportunity to do it again.

Well... coming from Thunder Bay Canada does seem like an adventure to remember (I only live a minute and a half from the airport!!) I guess I'll just have to have my own party with some gals up here. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

I am so not close to Chicago, otherwise I'd put in my bid. Have a great time, and blog about it, of course.

Maryland is a bit too far away but I think this is such a fun idea! Let us know how it goes. And I second the request for more pics of your beautiful condo! It looks lovely!

Hey! What is that paint color on your walls???

Hungry Janey said...

I'm not in Chicago, but what a cool idea!

Patty Young said...

Wish I could come, Jess! If it was a Friday or Saturday I'd be there but just can't swing it on a weekday with all the kid stuff going on.

PS... I was expecting to see a lot more orange at your house! ;) I think you'd like mine... orange EVERYWHERE! ;)

Jamie Lives in Tokyo said...

Jess, maybe on the day of the event we should throw a bunch of orange stuff around your place...or better yet, maybe we should all wear orange?! I think I'm getting somewhere...I won't promise to make orange treats, though. I haven't decided what to make yet and I don't want to be bound by a particular color!

patricia zapata said...

Wish I could be there! Have a great time!

Jessica Jones said...

Jamie, yes, quick, let's redecorate! Ha.

Far-away fabric friends, I wish you could come! That means you, Patricia, Michelle, and Patty Young. Hmmm, Patty Young, I would love to see your orangey house! My orange is all in my office. But I'm starting to think about re-doing our spare bedroom...

Jessica Jones said...

Our living room paint color is Behr Expedition Khaki 340F-4.

Tonya Staab said...

Oh, how I wish I lived near Chicago. I would totally come and hang out with the infamous you.

Live a Colorful Life said...

My niece lives in Villa Park. With more notice, I could have flown from Fresno (CA) and seen her AND you! The proverbial two birds....

Live a Colorful Life said...

I just realized the proverbial "two birds" quote actually involves killing. Okay, so I guess that means I'm out, huh?

Megumi said...

I love your condo and moreover I love YOU...

Have fun, lucky guys!

Alfred T. Mahan said...

There, now, you see, Jess? "Expedition Khaki"! THAT's a PROPER color, by thunder! None of this gaudy (finger quotes) "orange" nonsense gadding about and upsetting the eyesight!

Must be the steady influence of the husband, what what? I need to send him a note telling him to stick to his guns...*puffing on pipe*

Great home...very cozy and chic. Have a wonderful party with the gals!

Jessica Jones said...

Oh yeah, Erika. That would be so flattering.

Our living room furniture is from Dania.

Jessica Jones said...

Hi Susan! Thanks for saying hello. Mahan, it was my choice. Although Alex approved it. Good man that he is.

kristin said...

before we had our own IKEA, i drove to Chicago for a dresser (from the twin cities). so it hardly seems far at all for a chance to sit in your cool space to make snowflakes...sorry to have missed out on the opportunity.

Jessica Jones said...

Ladies, don't worry! If this is fun like I expect, I'll just have to do another one!

Danielle said...

I just got all excited because I live in Evanston too! And I'm not a stalker! Well not really. I read your blog everyday, but that doesn't count as stalking, right?

What fun. Loved the comment about the knife. Almost 12yrs ago DH and I celebrated our 30th at Nashville. A lady invited us to her farm. When we pulled up DH says "how do you know they aren't axe murders". I said "I don't. get out of the car". We've been best friends ever since.

Dangit! I was working so much in December and missed seeing this or I would have jumped at the chance. I'd love to be considered for your next gathering ...I'm in East Village downtown and write a little curated DIY crafting blog called MerrimentDesign.com. Happy New Year!
