The most awesome video I have ever seen

If you're a graphic designer and you've worked with clients for awhile, you will die laughing when you watch the commercial for Make My Logo Bigger Cream, a special new product available to your clients.

I'm afraid the video won't be as funny to non-designers, but it could prove helpful nonetheless. If you're a client, it will arm you with plenty of suggestions you could present to your designer to make her throw up or pull her hair out. That could be fun. (Link via Graphic Design Bar.)

Oh, that was a great way to start the day! Gives me some good ideas for those layouts I have to put together today *snicker*

I just found your blog yesterday, wickedly awesome! I'm drooling over your new guest bedroom, that color is just delicious.

Thanks!

And I plan to fill up every inch of white space in my work today, too. Rock on.

That's hilarious. I just sent it to all my designer friends. Too funny. Thanks for the link!

You mean that stuff is only available for clients and not for designers themselves? That's too bad. Just think of the work it'd save you!

Loved the video! Thanks for the laughs.

Love you more,
Mum

Haha - that is hilarious! My favourite part is the whitespace eliminator - too funny!

Marilyn said...

I'm not a designer, but that was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

But can I order the White Space Eliminator separately? (I already have the Starburst dust and Fluorescentizer. Though I could always use more...) :)

funny stuff. Odd correlation I noticed, doesn't agency fusion's logo look a little too much like the bugaboo stroller logo?

That was a scream. I have forwarded the link to the graphic designer in my life.

I happen to be a website designer and that is the funniest and hilarious thing have ever seen! We send the links to some friends who are also web designers, I bet they'll fall from their chairs when they'll see this!
Any way we can get jsut the emotionator???

Oh, god, thank you!

I am a designer for real estate advertising...I just had to layer an eagle on top of the flag of Texas which was then merged into the Alamo. No joke. That was the pick me up I needed today. :)

(and re-energized me for all the work I've been putting in to start my own company.)

oh.my.word.
so funny. I sent it to my fellow designers.
it made me wonder what design house was able to devote that much free time to goof off and do the video. but I'm glad they did.

brilliant! have forwarded to all the designers in the agency and everyone is smiling here today... and I bet everytime a client asks for a starburst they'll have to cover the laughter!!

Oh my God, that is funny! Who needs subtle colors and well placed logos when you can get that set for only 3 payments of $29.95?! I especially love the Emotionator! What is better in an ad than the ole flag And a cute baby seal?!
Great!

wow. I haven't done a lot of design work, but on one of the first projects I did, they loved everything but told me the logo was too SMALL!

This is great!! I think they missed the "Instant-graphicator Lube" - Turn all text based words, sentences, paragraphs, headlines, and even footer links into graphics ;-)

Laughed so hard I cried. That really brings back memories of my distant graphic designer past. And reminded me of why I got out. Thanks so much for the link!

One of the speakers at the Future of Web Design conference referenced this yesterday and the whole room applauded. It was a nice moment. :)

AND it's orange. ;)

This IS awesome! Not just because of how hilarious it is, but because of how true it can be! I can't believe the stuff that clients ask for! Haha!

Amazing how much a well-placed baby seal and liberal use of florescent color can add to your design!

This made my day and I've sent it to all my fellow designers. Thanks for posting, and fill up that white space!

This is quite American!:)

Jessica Jones said...

Hmm, interesting, Megumi. American in what way? The things that American clients ask their designers to do? Or this actual video seems American? Do Japanese clients make the same requests? I would love to know.

Or maybe you mean it's very American in that it smells like laundry fabric softener. Ha ha. (That's a private joke, sorry everybody.)

Aimee A, I have no words to express my sympathy.

Jessica Jones said...

And Kate, the fact that the Cream is orange did not escape me. :)

jojoebi-designs said...

haha love it!
I also sent it to all my designer friends, thanks for posting it.

Megumi said...

Well, there are two reasons.
Nothing to do with designer/client relationship. I will not have logo problems in my life.

One is the advertising way the video was made, like saying "But wait! We're not stopping there! Oh, yes! There's even more!"
and add some extra items like bonus to sell more.

Also American advertisements explain how useful and practical they are with reasonable price. Japanese commercials are scenic to show how the items are used, and do not mention so much about details or price.

The other reason is Americans love to make something funny, and also you like to enjoy watching them, like you post this on your blog.
I love you, Americans!

I feel like watching TV sitting on a couch eating ice cream with lots of toppings.

At school we sometimes watch "Lilo and Stitch" or "Dora the Explorer" in English, since our school should use English as the first language. Those American videos, especially new ones remind me of my nanny experience last year. Very strange feeling. I'm in Japan with Japanese & Indian kids, but feel like I'm in California.

Thank you so much for the link. At work... they are horrible. Almost as bad as the video. So maybe they will get the point now! (doubt it!!!)

You have no idea how much I laughed.

Jessica Jones said...

So interesting! I love learning about cultural differences in general, and ones related to design or marketing are especially fascinating. Thanks for leaving that comment.

I wish you were here to eat a big bowl of ice cream with me on my couch!

soooo funny. i've had clients who wish they had the starburst powder.

hiphostess said...

hilarous! and sooo true. I struggle with clients and the logo size/white space issues ALL the time ;) It's usually like "how much text can we possibly cram onto one page" - and if I find a way to get some white space in the layout still - they're excited because "oh, good - there's room for more text!" ha ;)

Aloutka said...

That's hilarious - I had a big laugh, thank you. Maybe I'm not a graphic designer to get the most of it, but as a teacher of old fashioned visual anthropology for graphic design students, I often have to listen to their complaints for customers.... :)

Oh my, I'm a graphic design student but I have already seen enough of that too laugh my but off!
I sent that link to all my classmates! :)
Love your blog!
