Make a messenger bag

I made a bag using this helpful tutorial at Craftster. I changed a couple things—most obviously, the orientation of the bag. I'm very slow at sewing, so I will never start a bag business. That's what I learned from this endeavor.

Cool red fabric on flap and lining is from my friend Megumi in Japan. Fun little button is compliments of Orange Beautiful's schwag bag.

It turned out really, really cute. I love the fabric combo. I have been looking for a good messenger bag to use at weddings for a couple years now. I may just have to make some for me and my assts and ditch our practical yet boring ones.

I'm glad I'm not the only slow-poke! I'm starting to worry about my Christmas gifts. I wasn't even thinking that I was going to spend so much time shopping online for fabrics and waiting for them to arrive! Ack! But I love the bag. The fabrics you chose are just lovely.

Aren'tcha glad ALEX got you that sewing machine?! :)

Lovely bag, and it looks like you did a terrific job! Slow is just fine, when it turns out as nice as that... sure beats fast and sloppy! ;)

Gee, do I sound like a mom here, or what? Ha!

Love you,
Mum

I really like the colours you chose.
Again a great tutorial to pass along.
btw ~ I made some of the fabric thumbtacks. Easy and fun. It gave me some good ideas of things to gift along with the thumbtacks.

Cute! Love that red fabric. I just used Artsy-Crafty Babe's awesome pleated tote tute [PDF] to make this.

I don't have the bag anymore so I can't check for you! Sorry! I think I just made the bag the size I wanted, to fit a few 9x12 binders and books.
