If you're a fan of Pablo Impallari's ubiquitous Lobster typeface, you might like Blenda Script by Seniors Studio. It's an experimental font inspired by Lobster and comes with swashy OpenType alternate characters. Blenda Script is free for personal and commercial use.
(P.S. Is Lobster the new Comic Sans? I don't think so. But this cracked me up. If only there were a mustache on it.)
No! Definitely not the new Comic Sans. I've loved Lobster since the first time I saw it. Lobster lives!
ReplyDeleteI love Lobster...it's the font I use on my blog ;o) ok maybe it's not the most original choice but I like it anyway. Thanks for sharing this alternative!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute font! Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteNow you have me double guessing my Lobster headed website. Surely it is not the new Comic Sans...surely.
ReplyDeleteIt is not. It just happened to fill people's craving for a bold script at a time when there weren't many out there for free or cheap. Google Fonts is making tons more available all the time, so folks who want free fonts are ending up with more alternatives.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Lobster is everywhere now! But nothing will be as used or as bad as comic sans, or papyrus for that matter. The worst of all worst fonts! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I really hope so... it seems all the west african politician's I work with use comic sans 12 for all their official documents, I cringe every time I have to read one!
ReplyDeleteWonderful font, thank you, for the link :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not fair! I was using Lobster over a year ago and now it's everywhere :( Which of course makes me have to find a new fave. *sigh*
