Weekend shopping

This weekend we explored and shopped around Cincinnati. So much fun! I think I'm going to love this place. Along with a $4 gold lamp from Goodwill that's begging to be spray painted, I bought these at a vintage store. I was enticed by their shape.

  1. Nice finds! Interestingly, that table gives the illusion in the photo that the bottom shelf is much wider but tipped. Now THAT would be a conversation piece! At least that's how it struck my eyes. :)

  2. I can't see it! But then, maybe I'm too familiar with the real shelf.

I'm planning to paint that thing. I love the shape but the wood finish is kind of orangey with what look like dark brown brushstrokes around the edges to make it look more aged or something. This house doesn't need any more wood. It needs more color! Or just white would be really pretty too.

  3. Love both items! We just moved away from the area and found lots of consignment goodies. Our favorite shop was The Snooty Fox. You must check it out. They have several stores but we had the most luck at the one on Montgomery.

Best of luck and have fun!

  4. If you're up for digging, one of our favorite places to find deals is the Kellogg Flea Market. It's full of stuff from folks that have no idea what they have on their hands (i.e., CHEAP!).

We're not in Cinci anymore (actually Chicago - so you and us did the reverse!), but you can see more about it here: http://www.yellowbrickhome.com/2010/06/11/follow-us-to-the-flea/

Of course keep in mind that it's hit or miss!

  8. Those look great! Another place to check out in Cincinnati is Hinge. It is a new store some friends left Chicago to open a couple of months back! They've got some pretty great stuff. I can't wait until I get to visit. https://www.facebook.com/Hingestore

  10. Nice finds! What stores did you find these at? I live in Louisville but am from Northern Kentucky originally. I still visit quite often and am always on the look out for new places to shop.

  13. Kathy, I read as far as "floss" and imagined you using it as a dental hygiene table to hold up your toothbrush and toothpaste. Embroidery, now I get it. :)

Emily, something with "Magpie" in the name on Main St. They had tons of cool jewelry, vintage clothes, art and knick knacky things.
