Fold an origami elephant

I made this guy by following a video by Leyla Torres, my favorite origami demonstrator. Forget yoga— if you ever feel stressed out, just put on one of Leyla's videos, lie down on the couch, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and listen to Leyla speak gently about valley folds. Find her instructions for this origami elephant here. The design is by Fumiaki Kawahata.

  3. Hahaha! I must agree! I'm even a yoga instructor, but sometimes you just need a dose of Leyla's gentle Spirit! Love her blog, and yours!!! So creative and inspiring!! But hey - how come your sweet little elephant isn't orange? ;-)

  4. Because I temporarily lost my mind. I must have been subliminally influenced by Leyla's photos of pink ones. I really have no excuse. It's shameful.

  8. I just made this little elephant. A total newbie to origami but very clear (and relaxing!) direction. Thank you. He's now guarding the books on the shelf beside my desk.

p.s. plan on creating a tiny herd.

  9. Oh my gosh this is too funny! I randomly came across an origami video of hers about 2 weeks ago at about 1am when I was having a bout of insomnia. Dang did it ever do the trick! She seriously has the most soothing voice ever! It was wonderful! Plus, I can make adorable origami bunny boxes in my sleep now!

    Love your blog :)
