Valentina typeface

Valentina is a beautiful didone typeface designed by Pedro Arilla and named after his grandmother. It's available for use in personal or commercial work. So lovely! Download it here for free, or make a donation to keep Pedro going.

  2. gorgeous :) how do you use the alternative characters? i found the ms word setting to turn ligatures on and all of the accented characters under "insert symbol" but couldn't figure out how to get those alternates.

  3. Oh, good question Alicyn. I was just coming over to ask how to do the same thing. This is a lovely font - I'd like to be able to use all of it!

  10. Alicyn, not sure, since I rarely use Word! I'm an InDesign user. Did you try Googling for tips?

  11. Jessica - on a side note, I'd *love* it if there were those handy-dandy "share" buttons included with your posts - to "tweet" or "pin", etc... :) (Just a little thought...)

  12. Hi Teresa, thanks for asking. There are, but only on the individual post pages. I've found that when I put them on the main blog page, the buttons don't share the individual post they're associated with, but just the main blog URL. That didn't seem so helpful! Haven't figured out a better way yet. :)

  13. oops! I just see the button now -- after I click on the individual pots -- like you just said. Sorry! Works for me!! :) Thanks so much!! (sorry I didn't delve in a little further before I posted...) :)

  15. I contacted Pedro and asked him how to access the alternate fonts - looks like you can only do it if you have Adobe Illustrator and Indesign.

    Here's Pedro's response:

    Hi there,

To access all the glyphs: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WS937002FB-8AC0-4520-AC7D-49C64A58EDB2a.html#WS3CA4EE09-2CBF-424a-AC77-709CFF0BA017a

    It's the same in Illustrator.

I hope this mail helps you.

    A big hug,
    Pedro.

  16. Kykeasey, thanks for checking it out. I wondered if that was the case. MSWord just isn't designed for, well, design. But I like that Pedro offered a hug.

  17. Glad to see this, as I just wrote to him, asking the same question.

Since I don't have Illustrator, all I can say is: bummer. Perhaps these designers might make that clear on their pages, that the full font family can only be accessed with additional software. I actually did have Illustrator, but with the latest OS update, I lost it. (I know, bummer again.)

Thanks for your great blog--I just finished teaching and have had some time to catch up--always fun to be on these pages!

    Elizabeth E.
