Better Homes and Gardens will attempt to diagnose your decorating style with
this little quiz. My result was "Country French." No way, man. Maybe it's because I said I wanted to go to Paris. I had fun selecting a shoe (totally those striped flats), but I'd sell every one of those chairs at a garage sale immediately. Good luck!
Totally agree with the chair comment, they are all truly hideous! I was polished casual which isn't my style either! lol but the striped flats are cute...x
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's the only answer! I did not pick Paris, but also got Country French. And I also don't agree.
ReplyDeleteYikes those chairs really were terrible. I ended up picking which one was the least hideous or attention grabbing lol. I got Country French, too - I also picked Paris. I'll just take it as a compliment and move on. :)
ReplyDeleteI got Country French as well, and completely disagree! It's not me at all, but I agree on the flats and the awful chairs.
ReplyDeleteI didn't pick Paris but still got Country French but all I could think was which of those chairs would burn best on a bonfire!
ReplyDeleteI was polished casual which is me to a tee. Didn't like the chairs, though.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the chairs...If I HAD to choose I chair it would be the Wing Back...but immediately reupholstered. :)
ReplyDeleteYou should try sproost! I think there are a lot more style options on that site. I'm 77% rustic revival.
ReplyDeleteOkay, while I wanted to say Paris I did not pick it because I did not want country french, and I got country french anyway. It is a scam.
ReplyDeleteAllison, agreed. Sproost is lots better; I tested that one awhile back. BHG could use a little sproosting up.
ReplyDeleteI would sell all of those chairs at the nearest yard sale too. ; ) I got polished casual "you love to mix and match your favorites from several styles" which actually suits my style pretty well!
ReplyDeleteI took the red chair (not my chair but butter than the others) and I took the seaside because I love the North Sea - Traditional style, puh, no, never. All that baroque things they show in the "tutorial-pdf": aaargh, help!
ReplyDeletebetter not butter
ReplyDeleteHmmm I got just plain country. Which isn't very me but the image had a lot of white-painted wood in it so maybe they know me better than I do.
ReplyDeleteI went for the cowboy boots, but it was a hard toss up between that and the flats.
And I liked the red chair! D: I am notorious for my, uh... interesting tastes, however.
Jeez - those chairs were all HORRID! I ended up with Polished Casual which is probably about right.
ReplyDeleteLOL. It's funny how many of my answers were based on what I hated least rather than what I wanted more. I ended up with Polished Casual, which is probably slightly more casual than my furniture suggests and slightly more neutral than my bright orange chair and accessories. But based on what I'm hearing as the other choices, I'm guessing that it was probably the closest.
ReplyDeleteI would never like to sink into one of those chairs. I am not for any of the shoes either. I got polished casual probably because I raid Jackie O's closet.
ReplyDeleteI said Jackie O's closet too, but alas. It wasn't enough to cancel out French Country. Or Country French. Whatever. :)
ReplyDeletehahaha mine said country french too and that's so not me.
ReplyDeleteMine is Country French too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so not me. I like bright colours, can't stand the fussiness of French decorating. Do you think they might be trying to sell something here?!?!?
Mine was Country French, too -- but my home is all modern! Lol! Funny.
ReplyDeleteToo many apples and oranges in that quiz. I'm not French Country either. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteWell, I never got my results (it wanted me to put in information and I tried and then it still didn't work--whatevs), but I totally agree about the chairs. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI got seaside cottage which is perfect for me! Thc tor a fun quiz!
ReplyDeleteWay too funny. I tested "french country" here. Then I went over to Sproost and had a 3 way tie (Wine Country, Arts & Crafts and Rustic Revival) And I do love all three! lol Had a fun time ladies thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis selection leaned way too far frilly in every category for me. I live in a concrete house and practice a near-minimalist design ethic I call "zen modern" - a combination of oriental understatement and Frank Lloyd Wright, with long and low rectangular lines and monolithic expanses of warm wood, glass, and stone. There wasn't one single modern or oriental design element to pick in the whole quiz...the Craftsman style house was probably the closest. I live in Texas, so both boots and flats are a go-to, but certainly not my "style statement." The chairs were beyond thrift store ugly. But then I only own three chairs that aren't dining or desk chairs - two red brown Ikea Poangs with black leather seats and a vast wood-framed recliner I was given that takes up acres but is the most comfortable seat in the world for working on a laptop. For extra seating, I have giant Indonesian floor pillows. I guess the concept of floor pillows would have given an infarction to the folks who designed that quiz. ;o)
ReplyDeleteHey, Country for me! Musta been the cowboy boots and horseback riding in the mountains. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on the chairs. None of them even looked comfortable!
Seriously, those chairs?! I got polished casual. Sounds about right.
ReplyDeleteCountry French happening here too. Those chairs. Eeesh. All were gross. Every choice was more a choice about what was the least hideous choice. That quiz is messed up, yo!
ReplyDeleteSomehow I got "traditional" which is partly right, even though I have a thing for danish modern and contemporary
ReplyDeleteIt gave me Country French, but then I hated all the choices it gave me and picked the ones I disliked least. So I guess Country French must be the style I dislike least!
ReplyDeletei got country french too! apparently that's a popular one!
ReplyDeleteI wonder where the "sneakers" option was for the shoes. And ugh, those chairs!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the sheltie dog was wearing your sneakers. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those are some ugly ass chairs. I got Polished Casual which is pretty accurate. I'm more electric and mix and match what I love. The flats were cute, i wonder who makes them? :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, the chairs are awful. My quiz result was "Polished Casual" which is pretty accurate...though some days my house is more casual than polished.
ReplyDeleteAppaling! I got country French too, and it seems to be not only picking Paris for a destination but picking toile among those horrible chair choices.
ReplyDeleteLet's get one thing straight: country French is a totally American style. No French person would be caught dead in it, whether Parisian or provincial.
As far as the chairs, the most comfy one for me after a long, hard day at work, was the overstuffed one. I did not look at color or pattern, that was not what they asked. I don't care for dogs, so I picked the one I felt would be the most mellow. My taste came up "Cottage", which is exactly how I have decorated, only I did not know there was a name for my style other than"Economical Comfort". I enjoy cute, silly quizzes like this. They are just for fun.
ReplyDeleteOh my - those chairs are awful! I got french country too .. I don't think that's my style. I hate patterned fabrics unless it's bright, bold colors in a sleek design, and in accessories (like pillows - not a chair). Oh well! I learned nothing about myself except that it was hard to choose between Paris and seaside, but eventually went with seaside.
ReplyDeleteFrench Country - moi aussi!
ReplyDeleteha, it gave me the same too. No way!
ReplyDeleteI chose the same things, and I also didn't like any of the chairs... :) I tried skipping the dog part altogether because no dog "fits my life style" (not to mention they were all large dogs... what the heck!).
ReplyDeleteI got polished casual. So off! Their choices were so limited...yuck!
ReplyDeleteNice links! I am glad I found this site. Thanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteok.French Country here too.Forget the chairs, did you see those drapes? There is more fabric in one drape then I have in my closet! Not me at all!
ReplyDeleteI got the same thing! Oh My Word that's a lot of toile in the 'guide' home. Sheesh
ReplyDeletePolished Casual, even though I did choose Paris. However it does fit me. I wouldn't even pick up any of those chairs if they were free along the side of the road.
ReplyDeleteI was deemed "Cottage." It must have been the hydrangeas...
