I spotted a forest of
orange lamps at IKEA while Christmas shopping in December. Their tangerine glow was irresistible. I was drawn like a moth to a flame, and after lots of agonizing about where we could put it, we took one home. The linen-like texture makes me very happy, and it looks beautiful when turned on.
I love the decor of your home. Very fun and bright and clean!
ReplyDeleteThat's cuz you can't see the dust bunnies under the chairs.
ReplyDeleteI really like the furniture the new lamp is sitting on. Where is it from?
ReplyDeleteWhy do I feel like I've seen that before? I know you mentioned it, but you must've sent a pic, huh? But I didn't realize it was that big. Looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteMum
IKEA, of course. But I swear, not everything we own is from there! Just most of it. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. I must get me to an IKEA soon. I never thought that IKEA would have much besides storage containers that would work in my old farmhouse, but they really do. Isn't funny when you watch movies or TV and you notice every IKEA item (and they are legion)in a scene? Will of Will + Grace had my kitchen cabinets. And why do many people uppercase IKEA? Maybe because their sign is like that? But many signs are all uppercase. It seems to be common thing. Much to ponder.
ReplyDeleteMum, I think I put a link to the lamp on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteTabitha, IKEA in caps is officially the company's name, apparently. "The company is named as an acronym comprising the initials of the founder's name (Ingvar Kamprad), the farm where he grew up (Elmtaryd), and his home parish (Agunnaryd, in Småland, South Sweden).

We have the same lamp, but in stripes, in my daughter's bedroom. It has been her nightlight for the last 4 years, and we haven't had to change the bulb yet! It is an amazing light and I can't imagine her room without it. Enjoy your new lamp!
ReplyDeletebeautiful!. I was going to ask where the cabinet was from too...love love love it...i really need to get to ikea! lol
ReplyDeleteI bought the exact same orange lamp last year to go with the retro lounge vibe I have going on in my basement!
ReplyDeleteCan I come live with you please? I love the lamp and everything else about your living space!
ReplyDeleteHey, that is cool!! I didn't see those last time I was there...
ReplyDeleteooooh, lucky lucky you! I have spied the orangey things myself at my local ikea (orange is also my favorite color.) I haven't figured out where I will put yet another lamp, so I haven't taken the plunge.
ReplyDeletevery chic!
ReplyDelete:D I've had one ever since my boyfriend and I moved in together a few years ago and it's very happymaking for an orange colour lover like me. In fact, I had to buy it myself (not out of our budget for the flat furnishings) because boyfriend said we don't actually need it but now he's the first one to turn it on every evening. Ha! :P
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your new lovely orange glow in the evenings. :)
Great! Orange (exactly Tangerine tango) was elected as the color of the year 2012 by Pantone! (You probably already know it :D)

Love it! We have the white one in our bedroom. :)
ReplyDeletei have that same tiny orange pot! mine's at work and has an aloe plant in it. :) I love your collection and arrangement!
ReplyDeleteI love the little orange pots with the plants! So cute! Would get them except I tend to kill anything green that comes into our home....
ReplyDeleteI am passionate about this blog.
ReplyDeleteoh, i'm coveting for my home office . . . & maybe a couple of white ones for the bedroom. thanks for the information/inspiration as ever, jessica!! :)
ReplyDeletei love the lamp but also the pots! not to mention the mix of accent pillows in the back. love love love.
ReplyDeletemy goodness, I love the light pouring into your place!
ReplyDeleteThe light looks especially nice with it's little plant friends.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great table! Where is that from? I am hoping it's not some one-of-a-kind flea market treasures..
ReplyDeleteNo, the exact opposite. IKEA. :)
ReplyDeleteHow could you not, indeed. It's beautiful, and just the right shade of orange. My grandson would love it to go with the quilt I made him, I bet. Too bad I'm not near an Ikea.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower, and I have to say.. I like what you've got going on :) When I registered for wedding gifts, I registered for all orange things for our kitchen. Because, why not? It's so bright and happy and even, somehow, cozy. Love the blog, and the lamp, by the way :)
ReplyDeleteOh hooray! Great to see someone else with a passion for the colour orange!
ReplyDeleteJsut came across your blog a few weeks ago and have been going through as many posts and archives as I can.
This lamps looks wonderful and I am sure the glow from it looks great when switched on. Any chance of getting a picture of it? :-)
I did take a "switched on" photo, but it looks nasty and doesn't do it justice. So I trashed it. :)
ReplyDeleteFrom one house with a lot of "orange things" to another, I think it looks awesome. You can never have too much orange...or cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I LOVE IT!!!! Your furniture is just like the things I grew up with. My mom decorated her house with all the Danish furniture of the 60s and 70s. Your blog makes me feel right at home! I'm a new follower and I added a link to your site on my blog. Thanks and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us!
ReplyDeleteLove it! :) Just wished I lived near an IKEA. Some things I can get online but so many says in store only. I'm hoping I can go the the one in Atlanta, GA on the way to or from Hilton Head Island this June. Just have to save room in the car for the goods and it's usually a tight fit in the car. GO ORANGE (my fav color too)!! :)
ReplyDeleteI found just the thing you NEED...
ReplyDeleteto bad they're so dang expensive.

Awesome! I also need a patio to go with that, and then I'd be all set!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI love the orange lamp, too. But I was hoping you could tell me the name of the table(I saw that you mentioned it was from IKEA,too)...I was just there yesterday and did not notice that anywhere. It would have most definately come home with me! Thanks so much! Kindly, Rachel
I can't remember the name, so sorry! We've had it a few years. Maybe they don't carry it anymore?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know where you got that console that's behind your sofa where the lamp is sitting. It's gorgeous. Love the lamp too. I'm an orange person too.
ReplyDeleteIKEA, a few years ago. I can't remember what it was called, though!
ReplyDeleteWe have that exactly little succulent cactus thing (the little one) in the exact same container, only ours is red.
ReplyDeleteI do love the colour orange and so am easily pleased with any item as long as it’s orange! I used to have some lamps and storage boxes that were a bright gorgeous shade of orange and they were in the 1960’s style and extremely funky looking. I really like yours and now you have inspired me to go out and do some shopping!
