Ooo, shiny. My entire home dec line for The Needle Shop now comes in a laminated version. Look at these makeup bags made by Rachel Epperson, the shop's owner. And how about this plump little boxy pouch?
This stuff is perfect for wipeable placemats, seat covers, play mats, and designer Slip 'N Slides. If you need a Christmas present for a sewist, consider a laminated fat quarter bundle and a copy of Sewing With Oilcloth.
Where can you get your hands on some yardage or goods made from Outside Oslo? Some options for you:
Online in Rachel's new Outside Oslo shop — Get fabric (both laminated and regular), as well as products made from the stuff. Totes, pillows, coin purses, placemats, and more. Any of the products can be made in the fabric of your choice.
At the Chicago Renegade Holiday Fair this weekend — Ms. Epperson will man a booth full of fabric and products so you can stock up on Christmas presents. I'm planning to hang around for a bit on Saturday and drool on her merchandise. Stop by and say hi!
At The Needle Shop store — Chicagoans, get hip fabrics, patterns, and sewing notions here. Or visit the online shop.
hahahaha designer slip and slide. Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt would cost you a pretty penny, but hey, why not.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if my Boss will send me some of this to make her something out of (I think she secretly wants that Slip 'N Slide for herself)! The fabrics look even gorgeouser laminated!
ReplyDeleteMum
Sewer, do you want some?
ReplyDeleteBoss
Of course! Silly question! :)

This is great news, indeed! I have wanted to make a few projects from oilcloth, but couldn't find any fabric I liked enough to buy. Now I have no excuses!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable!
ReplyDeleteSome of these would make the greatest tablecloths. My mom and I have been searching for pretty oilcloth that doesn't have anything to do with Italy, France or florals, and it doesn't really exist. So this is awesome.
ReplyDeleteYay! I've been searching the internet for a year trying to find laminated fabric to recover my beautiful-yet-child-stained-non-laminated-amy-butler-fabric. Seriously I am so excited!!!!
ReplyDeleteHurrah, Jess! Infinite possibilities!!!!! Must start saving money. You know what would be a fun challenge? To make something that is not table linen, a bag (of any kind), a splat mat or an apron. I know! Raincoat! Umbrella! Galoshes! Motorcycle upholstery! Be still, my heart.
ReplyDeletePlease make me a Vespa with an Oslo seat! I would die. You can make a Vespa, can't you? You're crafty like that.
ReplyDeletefabulously yum I love oil cloth
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Do you know what it's laminated with? Is it PVC?
ReplyDeleteI haven't the foggiest. You can contact The Needle Shop and find out, though.
ReplyDeleteoOooOO... placemats to match my seats? Is that taking it too far? And boo! Why am I in St Louis this weekend when so many fun things are happening in Chicago?
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't do Vespas. I make Harelys in my spare time, though. Sigh. I wish I HAD spare time.
ReplyDeleteWell, Harleys are really too loud for my taste, so I guess I'll pass. Thanks anyway, LiEr.
ReplyDelete"Harelys", Jess! Y'know, the kind for rabbits! I think they're very quiet! And probably made out of cardboard.
ReplyDeleteWell that's alright, then.
ReplyDeleteOf course cardboard! And no, Grandma G - I meant Harleys. My fingers can't spell to save their lives. Although, back to the main point - seriously, I would LOVE to upholster a Vespa in O.O., if I had access to one (and the permission to tinker with it). Uh, I mean a Vepsa.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteyes, please! ( - u -)
ReplyDeleteIs there any retailers in Canada that sell your oil cloth?
ReplyDeleteNope, it's only available from The Needle Shop right now. But they ship internationally.
ReplyDeleteOh the possibilities!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love it! Say, I had a sighting of some aprons made with your fabric at Kreatalier in Providence!
ReplyDeleteCool, thanks for the report!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics look great laminated! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI have a crazy love for cool oilcloth fabrics, and yours are some of the coolest--and SO gorgeous! I can't wait to get some and make myself a few zip pouches to carry in my daily life!
ReplyDeleteThat is really a neat way to make something out of these gorgeous patterns, just what we needed!
ReplyDeleteSomehow missed this post - just saw this. Ordered two! :D
ReplyDeleteLaminated fabrics are my absolute newest love, and your designs are stunning - very Scandanavian looking. I'm thinking a reusable market tote...
ReplyDeleteI do NOT know how I missed this! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the inspiring Quilt shop picture! I recently lost my business but my next quilt shop is gonna have some part of the spirit I see on your site:) Thank you!
