Printable water-drinking checklist

I hate water. I don't care much for swimming, and showering is a massive nuisance—your hair gets all wet and you have to waste a bunch of time making it presentable again. Fields or forests are vastly more attractive than beaches, and actually drinking water? What for? It tastes like nothing, and I sure don't work up much thirst moving a mouse around all day. However, I do adore crossing things off checklists. Wild Olive's cute water intake form might provide just the incentive I need to become a healthy person. Get it here!

Also helpful: something orange to drink out of. Thanks for the present, Emily!

  4. OMG, I feel like I wrote this! I am not a water person. Maybe this will get me on board to at least consume it.

  6. Ha! Very funny. Sorry for being on the slightly serious side, but you could always get a showercap to protect your hair while you shower. Your body needs the water to function, and extended periods of low-water intake can lead to all sorts of long-term problems. I know it's not the best advice, but there is also water additives (it being lemon, orange slices, cucumber, instant drinks like crystal lights) that can assist you to start liking water. The 8 glasses of water (although an outdated, over generalized research result) do not include only straight clear water. A cup of tea can count as 1 cup of water (as long as it's not caffeinated). Juices, fruit, etc, also satisfy this requirement. Which is why people who drink no water or little water can continue to function; because there's water in a lot of non-liquid, non-tap water things. Ok, rant done. :) I love lists too. Very cute, especially for young children!

  7. This is EXACTLY how I feel about water myself. Weird to hear someone else articulate it. Now, if only your list included a robot that would serve me water on cue...

  8. Thanks for the link, Jessica!

  9. Well, that's adorable. I hate water too. My hair looks like Roseanne Roseannadanna's when it gets wet. Not a good look.

  10. This is such a great idea! I can see this going a step further with the new food plate (the food pyramid was retired this week). There is no way I can drink 8 glasses of water per day. I am lucky if I drink 2 per day.

  11. I have tried to come up with a system to know how much water I ma drinking - this is perfect! thank yuo!

  12. Hey! You shouldn't go adding things after I've already read your post! I might've missed it!! ;)

Anyway, that cute bottle should surely encourage you to drink more! :)

  13. Mom, I know. It's insane. What's next? Eating vegetables?!?

TJ, thanks for the thoughts. So if I drink coffee, is that negative water consumption? Because I really like coffee. Do I need to erase some check marks for every latte I consume? Darn.

  14. Oops, Mum, my comment was to your earlier one about the gym. About the bottle, sorry. Photographing it was an afterthought. Just trying to keep you on your toes.

  15. Well, there WAS that healthy cookbook I gave you for Christmas... that YOU requested!! ;)

Yes, coffee is negative water consumption. Caffeine is a diuretic. Bummer, eh?

  16. Oh yeah. Er, um, I made one thing out of there so far. The thing with sausage. :) But I've bookmarked some other ones? Is that good?

  17. Bookmarks are a start! :) I have a lot of "bookmarks" in my life. ;)

Now quit commenting back at me. I must go get on my NordicTrack or I'll never get to your next sewing project. :)

  18. I live by a lake, love boating, love jumping in the lake during the summer. I shower every morning and before bed. My favorite drink? Water! And even this water lover loves this checklist. So cute!

  19. Put some lemon juice in your water and it will instantly become addicting. I've gone from never drinking water to over 64oz in a day - overnight! It's so yummy. I recommend the little packaged juice in bottles that look like lemons - you can even find organic juice this way, as opposed to have to deal with cutting up and dealing with fresh lemons everyday - although, they are awesome too. Kudos to you taking on your health in such a fun way! Best of luck.

  20. 8 glasses of water a day is a myth! Water haters rejoice :)

It is still healthier that drinking juice, but you don't have to force yourself. PS: love your blog

  21. I hate drinking water and I love making lists and checking them off, this is perfect for me, thanks!

  22. I do not like plain water. I seem to add just a little lemon in it to drink it!! Since I am doing My Fitness Plan this will work great since I don't fill in the water category too often! Thanks!

  23. I´m soooo wiht you!
I hate drinking plain water, but in the last months I got used to it - fill my glass and drink it off the reel. And W.C. Fields said : " I don´t drink water, fish f*** in water!" Cheers!

  24. Perhaps you need to add an orange slice to your water for flavor & color. :)

  25. I am always happy to read something that makes me snort while at work. Today it was "...and I sure don't work up much thirst moving a mouse around all day." I am grateful for this line. Thank you.

  26. Oh, I hate water too, so this is perfect for me. A nice alternative is just putting some fresh mint leaves in sparkling water. Still healthy, and more tasteful!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jeesh! I thought I was the ONLY one and here all week I've been pushing myself to drink as much water as Madonna. Like 3 liters! Glad I didn't float away before I could read this post!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Exactly what I needed!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I drink water when I'm thirsty. I prefer it straight from the tap—no ice, no flavoring. I'd never use a checklist to keep track of how much water I drink. It doesn't matter! That 8 glasses thing has been struck down!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I feel the same way about water! My mom would pur me a glass of water after meals, and take a sip just to make her happy and to say that I did. I'm printing this out! I'm sure my body, esp my kidneys, will thank me in future! lol..

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm fine with drinking water but I'm your soul sister when it comes to the annoying shower. I hate dealing with wet hair...goodbye an hour of my life, every time.

  32. cute printable! that will actually inspire me to drink more h2o!

    ReplyDelete
  33. The only thing that water is good for is making coffee.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well thank u. I get so boooored by people always telling how healthy they are, drinking gallons of water every day. I prefer lemonade and coffee.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Gah! I JUST got my Life Factory bottle 2 days ago. And I got it to encourage myself to drink more water!

    And, I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Haha...cute! I make a big pitcher of water infused with mint herbal tea and make sure to drink the whole thing every day. It really helps!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Honestly, I bought a cute Sigg bottle just so I would start drinking more water!

Somehow it just makes it taste better :)

  38. Wow I didn't know so many people hate water. In my case water is my drink of choice and nothing else beats the thirst. Even when I love it I find quite hard to drink a lot of water; I'm not someone who get ups and walk to the fridge, even for food when I'm hungry.

  39. I have that exact same Lifefactory water bottle and I love it! No funky tasting water from metal or plastic. I love water, though. After coffee, it's my preferred drink. I have had it at a local cafe with cucumber, peach slices, and mint and it tastes great. I also like lime in mine.

    ReplyDelete
  40. lol, i'm not a fan of water either. i won't drink it unless it's bone-chillingly cold. uber cute list!

    ReplyDelete
  41. So cute! And I totally feel the same way you do about water!

  42. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!!!! "showering is a massive nuisance"

  43. Thank you so much for this! I want to print a bunch out and have them available for my patients. I'm a sports massage therapist (and craftaholic), and I'm always nagging my clients to drink more water.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You don't have to drink only water- there are lots of sugar free fruit squash around to make the taste more interesting! I love the cute water bottle though, and if you print pages on your printer you'll always remember to do it.

  45. Ha, I thought I was the only one who considered showering an odious chore. I really hate that DH can just get out, rub his head with a towel and go and I'm stuck in the bathroom for another 20 minutes or so. And my hair is oily so I do have to wash it every single day. Bah! I don't like to drink water either. It isn't tasteless, it is nasty. And I can't swim and I would never ever go splash about in puddles after a rain. Ick.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The life factory bottles are my absolute favorite!! I have two and I love drinking water out of them :)

  47. Hey, you have an impeccable eye, I say. Would you be willing to lend it to me on a decision I'm trying to make? I'd greatly appreciate it.

  48. I hate getting wet too, but I don't mind drinking water as long as it's fizzy. The problem is, I am never ever thirsty so I don't drink enough, in general. I think that checklist is a great idea. *off to print it out*

  49. We love water, we are never without a glass near our elbow. Literally refilling it countless times a day and carrying it with us room to room as we move about. Once we started drinking as much water as we should be we found our thirst reflexes seemed to kick in more.
Water is like oxygen, in the end it doesnt matter if you like it or how it tastes, you NEED it to live. It's probably the cheapest (next to air, haha) thing that you can give yourself to help and prevent a whole host of physical ailments.
    Water rocks.
Now I am thirsty for imagining people who don't "like" water and might not be giving their bodies enough.

  50. That is so sweet and useful. My daughter would definitely agree with you on water - and she was born near the beach.

  51. Oh my god this is great! But I don't know if it will work for me... I failed miserably even with the App on my phone! I like water but I hardly get thirsty so I don't drink much

    ReplyDelete
  52. You are a genius! I'm off to print, drink water & check it off. Thanks SO much. And I had to pin this on pinterest. Hope that's ok? P.S. Your writing is fabulous. "I sure don't work up much thirst moving a mouse around all day" LOVED that-so true. :)

  53. Sorry, but lemon does not make it delicious! I hate lemon in my water & don't understand why that is the standard at every restaurant now. Grump.
