Our power returned today. While the idea of reading by candlelight sounds romantic and Abe Lincoln-esque, it's actually not that great. Neither are cold showers, spoiled food, or the inability to fire up my desktop computer to get any work done. Fortunately the HOW Creative Freelancers Conference kept me busy yesterday and today. It was excellent. Freelancers, I recommend it.
And now I leave you for the weekend with this interesting little quiz from the BBC that puts your eyeballs (and other senses) to the test. My eyeballs plan to enjoy some night-time electric lighting—how novel!
Welcome Back, we missed you.
ReplyDeleteThings just aren't the same without the computer. (Mom's "Lite Brite" as the boys call it) During our last power outage, I must admit I enjoyed making coffee on the grill.
Ha! That sounds awesome. I could theoretically have made coffee because I use a stovetop espresso pot and the gas still worked, but I like milk in my java. And days-old warm milk seemed potentially icky.
ReplyDeleteI need to get a coffee pot to use when camping or on the grill! What a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd you couldn't SEW without electricity!! ;) But I could (while YOU didn't have power). And it's almost done!! Hope to mail tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back!
Mum
Yeah! Glad you have power. I missed more questions on the quiz than I care to share, but it was fun!
ReplyDeleteWell, you are obviously in the Chicago area, between Tuesday's storm and HOW... That's a bit of a stalker-ish sentence isn't it? Anywho, glad your power is back on so you can bring us more Orangey-goodness!
ReplyDeleteso glad you are back in the 21st century... coffee first priority, computer, then hot shower.
ReplyDeleteThat quiz was fun but I was too slow on some of the questions.
ReplyDeleteGlad your power is back on, we lost ours on Wed but only 6 hours. Amazing how many things we use it for. Luckily it was the longest day of the year so it stayed light in NJ until almost 9 pm.
woohoo!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to hear that you are back and this article sound really great.
ReplyDeleteThe same storm didn't knock out my power but I was without internet, phone and TV for 2 days..quite liberating!
ReplyDeleteUnable to do any online work I designed some free downloadable birthday cards
We lost our power for about 3 days and lost everything in our fridge/freezer.. so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteGood to know things are getting back to normal. The quiz lies on the taste bit, though - nothing tastes good with pineapple, and everything tastes good with bacon XD
