While browsing on Imagekind the other day, I fell in love with a cat. That orange guy is coming to live in my house. Love the mid-century vibe of CZM's work.
I also have a thing for tilt shift photography. Check out Janez Novak's gallery of prints. Is that what Ljubljana, Slovenia looks like? I can't pronounce it, but I sure do like it.
Love tilt shift! There are some tutorials online for faking the effect with editing programs like Photoshop. I've played around with a few of my own photos, but you really needs shots from *way* up to make them look great. Now I'm always on the lookout for a high view.
ReplyDeleteHey! I used to live in Ljubljana! Only back then it was Ljubljana, Yugoslavia (talk about a mouthful). What I remember most about it are all the ORANGE tile rooftops! I think that's where I developed my love for the colour. =)
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Keith Loutit's videos? So awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh, that link was for pmthreads and has nothing to do with Ljubljana. Our comments crossed in mid air. So do I need to go to Ljubljana? Apparently.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you definitely need to go. =) Plus then you could take a jaunt over to the Italian coast which is not far. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is of the Dragon Bridge (also known as the mother-in-law bridge) in downtown Ljubljana. I was lucky enough to visit there last year.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the orange roofs...
ReplyDeleteGod, how I miss Slovenia.
Think Ljubljana is a mouthful?
Try Vrhpolje! lol
Everybody should go and see Slovenia. Green rivers, snowy mountain tops in mid summer, lizards, wine, Metalcamp, marelicas, Cevapcici, butterflies, horse- drawn carriages... did I mention how much I miss it?
What a great site! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're finally getting a cat... one Alex isn't allergic to... and orange, even! How perfect is that?!
ReplyDeleteMum/likesREALcatsbetter :)
Art piece is one of the way to decorate any plain wall and make it look beautiful
ReplyDeleteYes, Ljubljana looks exactly like this. :) Greetings to all from the most beautiful city in the world (as our mayor says...). :)))
ReplyDeleteLjubljana is wonderful, even though I say so myself (being a local). Do come and I'll show you around :)...All of my foreign friends who've visited fell in love with it...and italy/austria/hungary/croatia are all literally 1-2 -hr drive away...just an idea :)
ReplyDeleteI love CZM and hope to own an original one day.
ReplyDeleteI am from Ljubljana. Slovenia is definetly a place to see. we're tiny but we have everything! the summer is hot and you can chill on the coastline, the winter is cold and you can ski in the mountains, in the spring the whole country is green and blooming and in the autumn everything turns orangy yellow and green. + for all the foreigners the tilt point to go is that venice is 2 hours away. :)
ReplyDeleteLJUBLJANA means BELOVED in Slovenian language
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy coincidence! I run a local photography contest every year for the Army and THAT EXACT pic of Ljubljana was in our contest a few years ago. I can't remember the photographer's name so I don't know if it's the same guy. But it was definitely the same technique and shot! Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI have a tilt-shift app on my phone that really does some amazing things for a little 99-cent button! I use it to brighten up landscapes and cityscapes, but does some good things to 5th grade field trip photos too! Thanks for the great link.
ReplyDeleteWe love CZM's work!!! We bought several pieces last year. They're worth every cent and very mid century looking.
ReplyDeleteI also love it, and this thing made me remember you:

I love shift photography and those are really great examples.
ReplyDeleteTilt shift photography of buildings always reminds me of Mr. Rogers' land of make believe. I keep looking for the little gray cat.
ReplyDeleteCome and see Ljubljana for yourself! And be sure to call on me to get together for a stroll around the city!
ReplyDeleteHello, new friends in Ljubljana! This is exactly why I love blogging. I have friends in Ljubljana now :) I would SO love to visit, so I'm adding it to my short list of places I want to go. Some day!
ReplyDeleteI think you said it correctly.... I also love that tilt shift.
ReplyDeleteI love tilt shift, I took it one step further with my little flickr group, and added toys!

I've always wanted to have a go at tilt shift but I find it so hard to get a good shot. I'm sure I must have some photos of beaches so I'm going to look through my photos and then use tiltshiftmaker.com because I when I tried it a while ago it made making tilt shift photos dead easy
