Turn an image into a quilt pattern

The Victoria and Albert Museum has created an online patchwork pattern maker that might cause quilters out there to jump up and down. (I'm not a quilter so I'm still seated, but somebody can let me know if this is useful.) You can upload an image and convert it instantly into your own quilt pattern. Have fun playing! Thanks for the tip, Cindy.

  9. Some pictures seem to work better than others. There is a FANTASTIC one that would make a great quilt someone uploaded to the gallery of hot air balloons.

  12. This is great - and it would work well for things like tile mosaics too, if people aren't inclined to quilt (I haven't attempted anything other than a t-shirt one, myself).

  14. You can buy software that can convert an image to cross-stitch too - mine is called MacStitch but you can get a demo with the book Manga Cross-stitch, which I highly recommend!

  21. It's like Sliced Pixel, a technique originally created by Victor Van Gaasbeek. I have some sliced pixel artworks too. You can visit my tumblr here -> http://trimahar.tumblr.com/ thanks ;)
