Quiz: Choose a career using your favorite colors

Okay, this is uncanny. Take this color test, and it will tell you what career you're suited for. My result: "You're a CREATOR." Among the suggested career occupations: Web Designer, Creative Director, Fine or Commercial Artist. How can it be? Get out of my head! A note: I couldn't get the quiz to give me the results in Safari, but Firefox worked. And you can click right past the screen asking you to fill out an informational form. Okay, now you try it and tell me if it works.

  1. That's freaky accurate. Thanks for sharing. :)

  2. That's pretty cool. I got organizing first and then researcher. I currently work alone for a research herpetologist. Takes lots of organizing skills and obviously I do research.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Yep, this works...I'm an organizer! As a teacher, I have to be organized. Truth be told, I love to organize things. So, I would say this is pretty accurate for me. Thanks for sharing the link. How fun! :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. I got creator first (quite accurate) and then persuader (which I'm not so sure about)

    ReplyDelete
  5. That was pretty much right on! It told me I should be in advertising, which I have my degree in!

    ReplyDelete
  6. mine was completely off. it told me i'm social and should do social things, like teacher, social worker, etc. absolutely not! haha. i'm a graphic designer.

    ReplyDelete
  7. It told me I'm an organizer... haha, apparently they've never been to my house!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I pretty much freaked over mine...the career I got was "RESEARCH"..my current job position? Research Analyst...no lie..and I love my job haha:) Crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Mine gave me creator first, which makes sense. However it was totally off on the second category. Organizer? Far from it. I HATE accounting and all the other business stuff I have to do.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It was right. It told me I'm an organizer but I really wanted wanted to be a creator so I took it again and choose different colors and it gave me the same answer... I'm creative!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Gave me creator than organizer...too true! I'm a little too obsessed with lists and files to be purely creative. :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. that was so freaky - organizer. suggested career? financial analyst. You will never guess what I am! Thank you for the link, it was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It was off for me, too! I just liked the purple colors best and apparently, that makes me an organizer and a doer. Fun, though!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm the creator and then an organizer..well..I'm not organized at all :D

    ReplyDelete
  15. It was dead on for the emotional qualities, but I am not in any of those careers.Maybe that is my problem, I am in the wrong field!

    ReplyDelete
  16. That was freaky. I got creator too, and then social manager. Hmm, I'm a stay-at-home mom who does crafty stuff for sanity... kinda dead-on, huh. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow, that was interesting! In a previous job, I worked with undecided students and we used to administer the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory to them but I wish I had this to give to them.
I got Creator too, which makes sense for me. I majored in marketing and then took a different path and got my Master's degree in student affairs to work at a college. And it even says "institutions that teach crafts, universities, music, and dance schools" so maybe it wasn't such a change from my first path.
    Crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  18. My boyfriend and I both took it and we both got "Creator" even though we picked different color combinations. That's appropriate, since we're both in creative fields.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's insanely accurate! I've had a few of the jobs they listed for me hehe

    ReplyDelete
  20. Love it! Even my teen boys wanted to take the test!

I got creator first (very accurate!) and organizer second (also very accurate as a second!).

    Thanks for sharing with us!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yep. My job was in the result.
    Organiser.

    ReplyDelete
  22. creator then researcher...totally accurate to my past jobs and my current loves (even though i'm a sahm). totally posting this tomorrow (linking to your post too of course)...thanks for sharing!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Creator first, which is good since I'm a jewellery designer, photographer, and graphic designer.

Researcher second, which is good since I'm a PhD student in philosophy.

And I HATE the colour red.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pretty good! Creator and then organizer! Woo!

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is pretty cool! I got creator, which aligns with my actual job as an exhibit curator.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hmmh. Dunno. I got creator / organiser like it seems most of us did. And yes, I did find many suitable options in both the professions lists. BUT, I do not consider myself either bursting with ideas or being very organised. I wonder if the other options were very unlike me then, or if everything just seems to fit - like with horoscopes ;)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Crazy how accurate it is!! I really enjoyed that!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Organizer?!?!? (not even close!!) I'm the most UN-organized person ever! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pegged me on the first one (creative - English teacher), but WAY off on the second (I'd give anything to be organized -- perhaps that means it's in there, just latent!)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I should be an organizer?! Well, no, unfortunately, this isn’t true at all …

    ReplyDelete
  31. It was not even close to being accurate.

I am disorganized, not conservative or plotting, nor precise and details-driven. Yet, apparently, the test suggests I am. I would probably rather be unemployed than in any of the fields (Administrator, Secretary, Computer systems,) that the test suggested.

    WRONG!

    ReplyDelete
  32. P.s. I'm a creative person in a creative field, and I LOVE what I'm doing. I couldn't organize my way out of a paper bag.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Freakily accurate! I got Creator first, then social manager.
I'm a freelance artist and I teach adult and community education for a charity that specialises in helping social outcasts and misfits.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ha, mine was waaaaay off base. But it was still fun to read. :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Kind of right. It said Creator first, which seems accurate, but then said that I'm also a Persuader, which is "Witty, Competitive, Sociable, Talkative, Ambitious, Argumentative, and Aggressive," most of which I am defintely not!

    ReplyDelete
  36. WOW that's frighteningly true! I got an organiser - and that's so true. I'm a planner not a doer! Weird to see it spelt out for me just by picking colours. Well found!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I got creator and organiser. Absolutely spot on. I need to do something creative every day or I get cranky and my spices are alphabetised... hee hee.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow, it totally worked! I got "researcher" and I'm an academic. Crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I did this one awhile back, and it couldn't have been any more right on! Amazing!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Spot on for both first and second: creator and researcher!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Cool, I was a creator too. It think it was because I can never choose between colors. I like them all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Haha...not. even. close. That could probably have described my polar opposite! lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. It is uncanny: I got Creator and Organizer. It told me I could be an author or editor... I am a literary translator and occasionally an editor! I am very organized in my work and my everyday life.

    Thanks for the link. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. It said I was a Doer first and the adjective fit me, but the occupations, um, no thank you. Police officer, engineer?? My runner up was Creator. I like the jobs under that title, but not all the adjectives fit me. Odd, but fun! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. It said Organizer for #1 and Doer for #2 which is technically accurate when you read the descriptions, because I've been a librarian and I'm a Geologist.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I agree - I'm a creator first and an organizer second.....however, my day-job definitely fits into the organizer category and in my "real" life...THAT'S where I'm the creator. Very cool - thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Creator here:)

    Then Social Manager

I wondered if we'd get the same results since orange is my favorite color... I always think those things are kind of fun

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is awesome! I was a creator also (:

    ReplyDelete
  49. so, i got my husband to do this first (and it was dead on), but when i tried, it wouldn't let me! it memorized him and won't let me in! i want to know so bad!! oh well...this was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hi Jessica,
I stumbled upon your blog a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed your crafting and DIY tips. I'm commenting for the first time on this post because it was...you're right...uncanny! I was Researcher and Organizer. Although I am a writer and that wasn't on the list for Researcher, one thing I just love about writing is the Research...

    ReplyDelete
  51. wow, I cannot even believe that! Insanely accurate!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. huh. i got creator and social manager and i am nowhere near those fields.

    ReplyDelete
  53. WHoa creepy. Another organizer researcher here, which as an accountant and historian pretty much sums it up.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm a creator also. I'm a trained MLS librarian (which, BTW, is a "creator" profession). Now a semi-professional designer and SAH mother who reads design blogs and haunts Colourlovers.

    ReplyDelete
  55. very much fun. and very accurate too. thanks for the fun link :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. does it only have 4 categories?
creator, organizer, researcher and persuder? hmm...I thought it was right on but unsure after reading the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Very cool! It said I was a creator and one of the jobs I could/should be doing was an art teacher. That's exactly what I am! It also said the ideal environment was an artistic studio.. and that's where I work... in my own little studio downtown. Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Man, that could not be more off!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Crazy! Creator and Organizer- dead on! Thank you for posting this! Fun!
    slee

    ReplyDelete
  60. I got creator then organiser the first time i did it and then creator, social manager the second time; all of which is accurate.
my hubby did it and he got creator, persuader which is way off for him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. So funny! It seems I'm a Doer and Creator... thanks for posting :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Creator - and it listed my occupation in the examples!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Love this!! I got creator and i think that's great... yes i'm.
    Thank you for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Unbelievably accurate: Creator then organiser. I'm currently running a handmade jewellery shop - coincidence? I think not!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I turned out to be an "organizer", too. And I am. Not officially, but I am always organized at work. Not so much at home, though. Thanks for another fun "timewaster." I still go to the Sporcle site.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Pretty darn accurate: "Creator" first than "social manager". Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It was right on for me too. I got "creator" and I am a web designer!

    ReplyDelete
  68. ok freaky...the first was organizer and said i should work at an insurance company. i do. and i love organization and structure. the second was researcher - i'm a librarian and do research all day long!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Mine was totally wrong! It said "do-er" and offered me a career in the army. (I'm a designer) Oh dear!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Wow, it was super accurate for me! I got creator first and then social manager. I was an art major and love to do creative stuff, and for the social manager, all of the descriptions for how I deal with people were spot on! Thanks! That was a fun little link!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm so bummed :( I can't get mine to give me a response even in Firefox. I love your "timewasters".

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mine told me I was an organizer, which I think I am, but in no way do I have any interest in mathematics-related fields. I hate math.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm with you Kimberj—maybe I'll try it later.

    ReplyDelete
  74. mine was right on. named a profession i already work in and i love all that it says i would love. freaky!!! thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. mm, mine is also creator and second is social manager. Gives me something to think about..

    ReplyDelete
  76. Courtney took the test (she LOVED picking the colors) and she turned out pretty right on, too! She's an organizer. Yup, she lined up her Little Ponies on my table this morning and wouldn't let me touch them. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Even though I kept second guessing my choices because, honestly, the colors they chose bias me in certain directions. I may love blue, but not the blues they chose?!
Anyway, I got creator - thank god, that seems to be the only thing I'm good at.
And second was "social manager", recommended teaching and collaborations - I've done both!
    Very very cool!

    ReplyDelete
  78. holy cow.. I usually don't do these things, but this one was dead on..
called me an organizer.. so couldn't be more accurate than that!
    thanks for sharing

    ReplyDelete
  79. Very fun and perfectly affirming. No wonder I did an about face from my original career, although I'll admit I did like parts of it at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Thats weird, I made a mistake and clicked the wrong color but it wont let me retake the test. It's just coming back with the same innacurate job suggestions... I am definitely not an organizer lol.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Creator and organizer, yep, that's me!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Seemed pretty right on to me. I'm an 'Organizer' for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I got CREATOR... and I'm a photographer and artist! That was fun.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Interesting...I got the same results as you did...thanks for sharing.

    hi-d

    ReplyDelete
  85. I did this twice (and tried different answers, or so I thought) - and came up with the same thing twice. Creator (second organizer???). I am not a creator, and I'm terribly disorganized. So funny! But, it gives me hope that perhaps I really AM creative and have the ability to be organized. So, I'm happy. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm a Creator through and through! Very cool!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I didn't work on my opera browser but it did work on firefox. I am an organizer! Quite accurate!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful test!

    ReplyDelete
  88. crazy accurate, and since all my career/degree choices fell under "creator" - editor, ad executive, public relations, lawyer, then to english teacher - it validates my wish-washiness regarding my career! woo!

    ReplyDelete
  89. So accurate!
    My results:
    1. Organizer
    2. Researcher
So on target. I'm a PhD student.
I've reposted the info on my blog because it's just too good not to share.

    ReplyDelete
  90. i don't know what i'm doing wrong.. i get through it & then instead of giving me my results it makes me take it again! i've taken it a couple of times, but to no avail..

    ReplyDelete
  91. very accurate. Very. A little TOO much. (Insert creepy music)

    Thanks for the fun.(ish) quiz!

    ReplyDelete
  92. According to this I must be bi-polar. The first one said I'm a CREATOR (true) who is Nonconforming and Impulsive and the second one was that I was an ORGANIZER (also true) who has Self-Control,Orderly, and Systematic.

    Hmmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  93. Hells no. It said I was a social manager. I hate working in groups. I would rather be most anything else than a high school counselor, etc. Super wrong!

BTW, if it doesn't work for you, try a different browser. It wasn't working for me in Safari, but Firefox works.

    ReplyDelete
  94. #1: Creator
    #2: Social Manager

Um, no. Social manager actually scares me. I'm breaking out in a cold sweat having to think about that. And although I think creating would be fun, I can't see it ever being my day job.

But I'm not good at ranking colour. I just love them all...

    ReplyDelete
  95. very cool.
i got creator, then organizer. just right.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Creator/Organizer, and I'm a children's librarian. I sing "I'm a little teapot" and teach kids crafts, but I still make sure all the books get back on the shelves in the right order.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The quiz has me pegged, Im a creator! I design and create clothing. I'm glad to know I'm doing what I'm supposted to be doing!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Hmmmm, I got Creator and Organizer. Sounds totally true. I suppose though, that anyone taking a color test might qualify under those categories! I mean...if they asked, "Which garage tool is your favorite?" in a quiz, they could doctor the results to say, "You like to work with your hands" and someone out there would be saying, "It's like this website knows me so well!"
    I'm just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  99. yeah ! creator too ! it suits me very well ! I'm an architect in real life and enjoy all kind of creative works ! congratulations for your site, it's one of my favourite !

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'm 1) a creator and then 2) a researcher... wouldn't you know my fabulous new job has me doing both.

Hmm... wondering if I can incorporate this into the new recruiting/hiring strategy I need to develop. Hmm.

    ReplyDelete
  101. So far off for me. Said I was a do-er and listed things like "thrifty" as key characteristics--which is sadly not as true as I might wish it to be. Listed careers like engineering and such, which I have zero interest in.

I'm wondering if it has to do with the selection process? There were quite a few times where the choice between colors was a toss up for me--or maybe I just over thought it?

    ReplyDelete
  102. elf-Control, Practical, Self-Contained, Orderly, Systematic, Precise, and Accurate

    ....yes akurit

    ReplyDelete
  103. I got organizer. I could have cried when I saw Store Salesperson as a career. I have a BFA in photography but I have been working at a store since I couldn't find a job near my field. I've been kicking myself for not choosing a more practical degree path. Dead on right.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I wonder what a career in elf-control would be like.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Bruce apparently works at the North Pole.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Wow, that was spot on. It said organizer and researcher. As a librarian it is right on.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Holy smokes, that is shockingly accurate! What an interesting test. Thanks for sharing it.

BTW, I also got creator. :)

    ReplyDelete
  108. Weird. It listed my polar opposites. At least the runner-ups were in the ball-park!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Okay, I really didn't think it was going to be THAT accurate.
    That's ridiculous....and awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Very interesting. I got Researcher followed by Organizer. I would say it is accurate for me as I refer to myself as a digger of information. When I'm interested in something I dig and dig until I get the information I need!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Spot on. Creator as well, then social organizer. I am an architect & artist (create) and I teach (social organizer). Very cool.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I got organizer and then doer. I am DEFINITELY an organizer. No doubt. But I kind of wish I got creator? Or artist? Or something? Hm. Doer? That's scary.

    ReplyDelete
  113. *chortles*

Jess, I'm a Creator/Organizer. Before you laugh, know that the test suggested I become a lawyer, and noted that:

"These conservative appearing, plotting-types enjoy organizing, data systems, accounting, detail, and accuracy."

Therefore I can make people cry, and all the number-crunching I've done in my study of naval architecture has *not* been wasted. I'm so proud.

Post-script: the word verification is "caste" How appropriate for a future "Esq.".

    ReplyDelete
  114. Color choice is just one aspect. It is useful to look at other aspects as I found when looking at the careers of amazing people at http://myamazingpeople.com/

    ReplyDelete
  115. Thanks for sharing this!

I was categorized as a "creator" then a "persuader." The creator is accurate as I have been (or am still) a few of the choices listed: reporter, broadcaster, editor, artist. I also seriously considered a few: landscape architect, lawyer and ad executive.

This was a hard test to take because I truly love all colors! I mean all colors!

    ReplyDelete
  116. It worked so well for me that... I asked my students to do it! Well, mostly for fun, but it's a way to have them talk about their personality, their ideal jobs & discuss the value of tests of all kinds.
I'll let you know what comes out of it.
    Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Thats a truly awesome test... its accurate... Amazing!! You have a lovely DIY blog... and I love the colour orange!!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I thought this would be off for me.

    Creator, then persuader.

    Persuader I am sooooo not.

Creator - well, I thought, sometimes for fun, the emotional qualities fit, but not so much in my field (which is law). THEN I saw that "lawyer" is actually listed among the suggestions for creators. Ah well, guess I do create contracts...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Wow. That was freakishly accurate. Every job it listed was one I have done.

    ReplyDelete
  120. It was right on. I got organizing first and one of the sugessted jobs was a bank cashier and I am a bank teller. I also have my BAS degree in Organizational management.

    ReplyDelete
  121. wonder how it compares to the myers-brigg? i'm consistently intj, no matter how it's presented.

my list of top results (organizer)includes every occupation i despise!

working alone, as a researcher, that is accurate - but i also consider myself to be a creative type. perhaps those particular color choices bother me - love aquas and teals but that particular teal hurts my ears, and taste buds.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Lol... so not. I must not be very good at it because I have a very hard time choosing favourites when it comes to colours. I feel defensive of some of them and truly over analyze each one to see if I reeeeally like the name or the actual colour on the screen... too bad they don't have a category that lists the career choices for "neurotic".

    ReplyDelete
  123. quite accurate!
I don't know if that is creepy or just cool, but I like it :)
I got the same result as you did ;)

    ReplyDelete
  124. On the dot! Creator, then Persuador. I am currently working a position that allows me to do both. :) I'm also currently thinking about changing my job...and the job I'm contemplating about changing it to is still using BOTH of these categories! :) I love colors! :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'm a creator too! Lol my 2nd best occupation would be a social manager. I think this test was cool, thanks for posting!

    ReplyDelete
  126. This was fun -- thanks for the link!

I got "researcher." Interesting bc the reason I'm currently pursuing a career in journalism is bc... I like the research/learning aspect. :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Weirdly uncanny...1st place is "doer" and place "creator." Nice, I feel validated ;)

    ReplyDelete
  128. told me I'm a creator first (which is maybe somewhat right) and then persuader (which is completely off).

    ReplyDelete
  129. Creator. Very accurate. Lists all the things I want to be when I grow up. Now how to actually do that and pay the bills? Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  130. didn't work for me!! exactly opposite, but fun!

    ReplyDelete
  131. wow, that was creepily accurate. I wonder how many career categories there are to choose from, though.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I got organizing and then researching. Both of these are things I do (well actually), but the careers they listed are NOT at all appealing to me. They're actually the kinds of jobs I'm trying to get OUT of and break more into the creative world.

    Eeps.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Creator and Social Manager. Yup and yup - I love creating and I love people.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Wow, that was so accurate!
I'm a Creator #1 and an Organizer #2, fits very well with me being a self employed child and baby photographer! I love stuff like this, thanks for posting it!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Fantastic find. Thanks for sharing. xo, Creator/Organizer

    ReplyDelete
  136. It´s awesome!!! It was super accuurate!! Goosebumps! Oh my! I´ve been wondering if I chose the correct career... I did! :D ha ha, I´ve a lot of interests but certainly organizer personality is on my veins...and persuader! reaaaally scary! that´s correct two!
    Love your findings!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I never grew tired of taking these quizzes..somewhere in me believes in it..and perhaps, I just enjoyed how the test turns out.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Thanks for the link! Good speed.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Creator, followed by Persuader.

Pretty darned accurate as I work in IT and design on the side. I also am a union organizer, so the Persuader is covered.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Definitely accurate! It says I'm a Creator and that photography is a good fit. And I'm a wedding photographer! Fun :)

    ReplyDelete
  141. Mine was pretty dead on to the tests the career counselor had me take. And those didn't include colors.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I'm a creator too... which confused me at first. But the strange thing is, lawyers fall under that category. I'm planning on law school. COINCIDENCE? ...Well, most probably, but still. :)

    ReplyDelete
  143. This was interesting, considering I am interested in the dental field and it came up as my organizer and doer which does explain somethings that I am going through right now in my life. plus this also matches up with the true colours/personality dimensions testing too.

    ReplyDelete
  144. It's true. I'm quite organized and systematic.

    ReplyDelete
