Quiz: What's your type?

Pentagram recently invited friends and clients to visit their resident psychiatrist. You, too, can drop by his office to learn what typeface most suits your personality. This descendent of Freud will ask you four questions, take some notes, and then reveal your "type," complete with a history lesson on that font. I was diagnosed as Universal. Give it a try right here. The password is "character." (Thanks, Stephanie!)

  1. I was having a bad day, and then I took this quiz and it had very nice things to say about my type: Cooper Black Italic. Thank you! :)

  4. they did not like my passwords, what's the deal? How do you log on?

  5. I was Cooper Black Italic also. Not a font I'd normally go for, but I certainly liked the sentiments! :)

  6. I could not log on. What's the deal? I went to the main blog, and it did not require a membership, so I don't get it. It's typical.

  7. Ha , that really was a timewaster, but fun!!! Thanks

  8. Fun! I'm Marina Script... I wouldn't have chosen that myself but I do think it's pretty. :)

  9. Click the link in this post. After the introductory screen that asks you to turn on your speakers, you'll be taken to a page where you need to enter a first name, last name, and password. These fields are in the upper left corner. Enter the info and then click "enter," found at the lower left.

  11. Archer Hairline, hmmm. Interesting, thank you!

  12. I got Baskerville italic, which was really amusing since Baskerville is one of my favorite fonts :)

  13. Plastica. That's me apparently.

I really liked the look of Universal.

meg - the password is character. (Jess included it in her post, thought this may have been after you tried, or you missed it the first time, like I did?)

  14. That was pretty funny-the guy cracked me up! I was universal

  15. This was so cool. I love how it was presented; very smart people @pentagram. Thanks for sharing! I'll be posting this on our blog and giving you a link back.:)

  16. I was Van Doesburg -- never heard of it before, but thought it was pretty fitting.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Aparently I'm Universal as well although I despise that funky k,x, and z. They are just way to fussy for me. I did however love the the idea of an interactive psychiatrist. It was pretty fun.

  18. What fun! I'm Pistilli Roman. Sounds exotic! I'd love to put this quiz on my own blog. Is that allowed?

  19. Dot Matrix?! Weird. But that dude needs a serious manicure. Anyone else notice that?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I've done nothing else but waste time today, so what's a few more minutes ?
    Van Doesburg (didn't disagree)
    Fun - thanks.

  22. Thanks for that, interesting! Archer Hairline.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Baskerville italic. And when he gave the description, it was pretty right on. That was really fun. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, another dot matrix here who noticed the manicure issue. Fun quiz, but man: that font may be my "type" but it is soooooo not my style!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Weird. It told me I'd already answered these questions, and would lose clarity if I did it again. So somebody else with my name is Archer Hairline. Guess I'll use another name, find out what the questions are, and see what type I am!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for the fun time-waster. Plastica here, and definitely noticed the lack of a manicure. Very fun, even if I'd never choose that font myself ;-)

  27. Fun! I love the narrator's voice.

  28. Also an archer hairline. It's spot on...funny!

  29. I saw this on Facebook... I was universal as well. I didn't like it when he told me I was a "fixed-width"...

    ReplyDelete
  30. You were hoping for curvaceous or voluptuous? Perhaps hourglass? I'm afraid I really am pretty fixed-width. Bummer. I keep hoping someday my boobs will get bigger, but until then, I'm stuck with fixed width. Unless you didn't mean your physique?

  31. Dot Matrix, but didn't notice the hands. Maybe b/c my dad was a professor who smoked a tobacco pipe? Hands were always a bit scruffy.

  32. Marina Script! What a lovely way to end the evening. I feel like lighting a candle & pulling up to my desk to write gorgeously.

  33. Am I the only New Alphabet out there? This was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  34. A great quiz. Very cleverly done! :)

I can't even remember the name of mine...it was the architectual one...not really a fave, but put a smile on my face.

    Thanks! :)

  41. I love that type quiz! Where do you find all these great jewels? Thanks for sharing such fun and interesting design-related info.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lol. I saw this quiz earlier and it's so well done. I got dot matrix too. Don't know if it's what I would have chosen as a font but cool quiz. =)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ooh, I'm Archer Hairline, which I absolutely love!

    ReplyDelete
  44. At first I was Dot Matrix...Wha? Is that even a font anymore. At least it wasn't Comic Sans. I redid it though because I wasn't sure about one answer and then I got Copper Black Italic which was totally a good match. That was neat, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jess, that was plum weird! But fun. I think. Dot matrix here.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I stopped at the first question b/c his hand motions were making me uncomfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Mine said Lettres Ornees, which was really lovely.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm Pistilli Roman. Suits me fine. Thanks for the link. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  53. He tells me:
"If you furiously believe that C's are not any less significant than E's, then Van Doesburg is your type."
What do you think, are all letters created equal?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Absolutely not. I's and L's barely even count as letters at all. And don't get me started on 1's.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Apparently I am Pistilli Roman! LOL Did anyone else notice the hand on the shelf in the back is giving the middle finger?

    ReplyDelete
  56. LOL that was really cool!

new alphabet here... and really accurate actually!

    ReplyDelete
  57. He that was fun, Plastica and I really like Art Deco...I shall get my snob by font son to try it...That will teach him for nagging me about using papyrus!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I was Van Doesburg... hmmm a bit to controlled for me.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hah, that's funny. After I found out my type (Perpetua Titling), I browsed the other types. The only other one I would have been tempted to think is better (Baskerville Italic), had as its type the first three answers of mine, and the fourth one (which was the hardest decision for me) was the difference. So both types that could have been mine were very appealing to me :D

    ReplyDelete
  60. hysterical - dot matrix, and I did notice the hands! What does that say about us matrix folks?!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ha - i too had found this, it was in the Boston Globe over the weekend. Loved it - though I was very displeased with my "type" . . . alas I may not be the type I thought I was . . .

    ReplyDelete
  62. Archer - hairline obviously!!!
    thanks for the link

    ReplyDelete
  63. Mine is Pistilli Roman... I was convinced I was more of a Archer Hairline type. It was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  64. It turns out that I'm Cooper Black Italic. Woo hoo! What a cool website!

    ReplyDelete
