While poking around the internet, I came across artwork by Charley Harper, modernist designer and illustrator. Cincinnati's Contemporary Arts Center has a
bio on Mr. Harper, along with a few
high resolution images of his work you can download. Not to be used commercially, of course, but you might put a bird on your desktop or make yourself a print. I'm a fan, and use my
Charley Harper plates almost every day.
So bright and pretty!
ReplyDeletethanks for this link. I love his work!
ReplyDeleteI love Charley Harper and Black and White Warbler is one of my absolute favourites!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the link!
I've been seeing his work popping up a lot lately...LOVE IT! His scientific illustrations are great...
ReplyDeleteI bought the Charley Harper ABC book and flash cards at Old Navy about 6 months ago (at a screamin' deal, I might add). I love his work, and the kiddos seem to enjoy it too.
ReplyDeleteI love Charley Harper and I love his bird illustrations the best! Great post :)
ReplyDeleteCharley Harper is so fantastic - I discovered him when I moved to Cincinnati, and have been in love ever since. My husband recently surprised me with Todd Oldham's giant book of Charley Harper prints that came out a few years ago. Flipping through it is so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThey also made a coloring book. I saw it at Paper Source. Love!
ReplyDeleteLove them, thanks for posting about the link. I downloaded the green jay for my desktop.
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of his work! Was surprised to see kids books illustrated by him at Old Navy. They weren't cheap but I snatched them up (great gifts for my many preggo friends!). Thanks for posting about him!!
ReplyDeleteHave to say your blog is fantastic. Found it thru Pink Picket Fence. I'll be visiting often!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend bought me an owl print of his for my birthday - 1 of 100 lithograph. That's when I knew I was going to marry him. :D

ReplyDeleteI love his work too. Thanks for the link! I've been using teNeues magneto planners with his designs on it for 2 years. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE Charley Harper... Thanks for the great link!
ReplyDeleteI love Charlie Harper. His art is so amazing I have found some great pieces of his art lately. One was at, of all places, Old Navy. I bought my kiddos some puzzle, memory games and abc cards. They are beautiful and going to be used as art as well as for play.
ReplyDeleteBut my best find was at a used book sale where I found a vintage Golden Book of Biology, illustrated by Charlie Harper, I got it for a quarter! It is so amazing and I look at it everyday. I'll out a link so you can take a look--it is really amazing.

Not to make you jealous or anything! By the way, I love those plates and I have never seen anything like them.
Cheers,

I'm excited to discover that Pomegranate sells Charley Harper calendars (an affordable way to see his work all year long!). They also have Christmas cards, and other paper products: http://www.pomegranate.com/artofchha.html
ReplyDeleteI have been using a 2009 planner all year with artwork by him on every page! The cover is of a bright orange bird, and I just picked it up at Barnes & Noble because I thought it was pretty. I didn't realize he was such a famous artist! Thanks for sharing! :)
