Cheap decorating

I found some good deals when decorating this room. These bamboo wall boxes were on clearance at Target for $8 each. Half price. I had my eye on them, and when the price dropped, I pounced. They still had them last time I was there, so you might be able to score some.

Lookit this polar bear bank! From Etsy seller Blue Bell Bazaar.

This little side table was on clearance at CB2, so it was 30-some bucks. And that fun pillow? $4.99 at Urban Outfitters.

Those orange picture frames are the same guys I spray painted here. And I picked up that wood stump vase at Target on clearance for about $8. Sales make me very, very happy.

  1. Looks fantastic, and I love the little polar bear!

I'm pretty sure Target owns my soul. I was there four times (two different locations) over the weekend. But I got a queen bed skirt for $6.24, an awesome decorative pillow for $6.24, and the perfect cuddly throw for my office chair for $4.98 (among other things). Is there any store more perfect?

  8. Great finds! Unfortunately we don't have a Target here in Canada, but I live close enough to the border to take the occasional trip. Here, though, we have HomeSense (part of Winners)... and my blog-partner is a frequent visitor to this fantastic store where she's been known to find some terrific deals. Everyone loves a good deal!!

  12. I love Target also. Target and Costco. I hardly EVER shop anywhere else. But I did find the coolest chandelier from UO, for CHEAP! And I also have a crush on your orange walls.

  21. Mmm, this post makes me want to paint a room. (And paint all the trim in my house white while I'm at it.) And go to Target. And spray paint some frames.

P.S. Love the new look but also really like the tree that was there during the "brown" year. Was that a vinyl thing? Or painted? Looks like maybe there were photos hanging from some limbs - was it a family tree by chance? I've been thinking of doing something like that, but haven't decided what the tree should be (paint, vinyl, wood, ???)

  22. Hey Karin, it was painted. With painted canvases hung on it. Not a family tree, but you could totally do that.

  25. I love the room. It looks great. I've been looking for some basic, cheap ideas for adding a little more spunk (and femininity) to the apartment I share with my boyfriend. Your room is definitely helping me gather ideas. Thanks!

  26. I'll be honest, Jess, while not the *biggest* fan of orange in the known universe (that would be you, I believe), your room makeovers are making me determined to tackle a couple of rooms where I live now.

Especially the downstairs bathroom. It looks like a tanker of Pepto-Bismol ran aground.

  29. Oh, I love the orange. And bargains are super. :D

  30. Great color! Orange has been traditionally overlooked or linked in an unfortunate way to the egad-Seventies. But this is so fresh and juicy and appealing! I'm also way into aqua right now (http:cheapdecorating.blogspot.com), and this might be the perfect accent color.
