Domino has a
gallery of ideas for displaying family photographs. Here's my favorite: picture frames duct-taped together to make one big piece of art. See how they added solid color blocks and nature shots to balance the people-pictures. Love it! You could use something like
these cheapies from IKEA, I bet. And speaking of IKEA, I'm reminded of
this cartoon. Heh heh.

Yeah, I like this one the best too. And love that pillow! I just spray painted some of my frame collection from the yard sales, now I learned a lot of ways to arrange them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. I'll have to remember this!
ReplyDeleteSome of those ideas were a bit much, but I do like the one you picked!
ReplyDeletewow, I love it too! What a great idea. thanks for always sharing such great ideas on your blog :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool idea!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this!
cute idea! Plus love how it would be easy to grow... once you had the right number of pictures to add! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas and the joke is really funny!:)
ReplyDeleteoooh! I love this idea!
ReplyDeleteYa know...I generally HATE multi photo frames because it's too much to look at. But I agree with you - add a block of solid color or some simple flower or something. MUCH better. Good eye. I never really knew the solution for that.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'd paint the frames I guess.
ReplyDeleteI agree with vacuum queen. Too many pictures of people is overwhelming. It looks great balanced out like that. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have some of those cheapie frames from IKEA. What a great idea. I love, love photos and display collages like this.
ReplyDeleteI love this! My younger daughter has been complaining that there are no framed pictures of her on the walls...only snapshots stuck up here and there. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to display photos! This looks like one big installation, as opposed to single pictures -- inspiring indeed!
ReplyDeleteI remember when this story ran. I loved it so much. I bookmarked a ton of photos for the idea and then searched and searched for the perfect frames at Ikea and all these chain stores. I know it sounds insane but I couldn't find them anywhere! Or maybe I was just too picky. But I completely adore this idea and may need to resurrect the project. So fun, and you can swap out the photos from time to time, too!
ReplyDeletewow what a great idea, I never would have thought of that! I just got a whole bunch of photos from europe printed and have been trying to decide how to frame them, looks like my staff discount at Ikea might come in handy again :P Love the cartoon too, not exactly how I remember my interview though hehe
ReplyDeleteLove the IKEA joke! Great idea for photo gallery- Domino has soooooo many great ideas!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think I've got a load of those frames somewhere, bought cheap 'just in case'!
ReplyDeleteI *love* this idea. I'm envisioning pictures of the kids interspersed with their artwork, which I'll change out from time to time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - I would love a good-looking way to display family photos.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Thanks for a great idea. It looks like a collage.
ReplyDeleteHUmm mmm I really liked the photo display! Super cute on the wall!Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteOh this is such a cute idea!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteWow. These ideas are great. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeletei love this. love this!
ReplyDeletei'm imagining it not being quite so much a grid but continually adding on horizontally and vertically. i have a wall in our new home that i was hoping to create a "photo wall" but was dreading all the measuring and nonsense to get it all straight and even...now there's no worries. though i may use a serious stapler instead of duct tape, or something to make it feel a little more long-lasting...
the 4x6 size (for regular photographs) is only 1.99 for a set of 3 from ikea, which makes it quite doable.
thanks!
yay, this is so great! thank you so much for the find. xo
ReplyDeleteGreat way to display photos!
ReplyDeleteTarget has white (also pink and blue) 5x7 frames on clearance right now. there are 2 in a pack for $1.27
ReplyDeletei stocked up with this in mind. :)
Great tip; thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying for months to figure out what to do in my hallway - thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with this idea when I saw it in Domino. I have been collecting frames from my local K-Mart - 8x10 white Home Essential frames for $2.50 apiece - and hope to get to 24 for one large installation. They also have smaller sizes. Now, time to organize some photos...
ReplyDeletethis is so brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThat almost seems like a nightmare to hang. I like it so much, but how to you manage to hang them all that perfectly close to each other?
