Wordle

Several people have sent me a link to Wordle, a site that automatically arranges words on a page. You paste in your own text or a web address, then pick the typeface and colors. Kinda fun. Here's my blog, Wordle-ized. Did I really write "naked" in a post sometime? Yikes, apparently so. This blog is so risqué.

  2. Did you know that you can (right?) click on a word you'd rather wasn't included and remove it?

Its pretty cool hey? So many possibilities.

I just can't figure out how to make the pic ginormous like you have it on yours...

  4. Oh, nice. I could have censored myself. Laura Jane, I just took a screen shot of it and posted that.

  5. Can I just be completely ignorant and ask how you take a screen shot in Safari? I'm so totally out of it, but I'd really like to put my Wordle on my blog, like you did! I love it that one of the biggest words on mine was crap, followed by time, teacher, and ajumma (a married woman in Korean).
    Thanks for the cool link!

  6. Press shift + apple + 4 and your cursor will turn into a little thing with crosshairs. Drag it to select the area you want a picture of, then release the mouse. The picture will appear on your desktop.

I think your wordle is very pretty.

P.S. Looking back at my comment from last post I see that I mistyped "candle". I can spell, I promise!

  9. This thing amazing thanks!

I did our marriage vows in it and going to hang it up. It looks really awesome.

    Thanks again.

  12. Now that was fun! I'm thinking my blog words would look great on Spoonflower fabric. It would really be all mine and I wouldn't have to design graphics!

  13. How cool! I'm off Wordle-izing my blog too! Thanks for sharing.

  14. I think doing this for my blog would be a very, very BAD idea.

It works wonders for yours, though, Jess.

  15. Why? Because all the words will be archaic and straight of an 1865 dictionary? :)

  16. I'm going to do this for our Christmas card. I've wanted to do a letter, but couldn't think of any of my own grand accomplishments. This way, nobody will ever know that I'm too wrapped up in raising kids and cleaning the bathroom to have my own hobbies!

  17. Fan-bloody-tastic! And deanna, what a great idea. Much cooler than a Christmas round robin and a perfect artsy card at the same time.

  21. Jess, the Wordle site says this: "The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text." Apparently you've used the work "naked" a fair amount of times. *GASP!*

Your mother (not sure I dare read further) ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nope, you'd better not, Mom. I know, it's like, scandalous. I must say "like" a lot, too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You probably "like" "naked" stuff, huh??? I'm gonna tell your pa!!

  24. I'm not sure how well Wordle could handle multiple usues of terms such as "predreadnought", "paterfamilias" and "regurgitated".

I have to agree with your mother; you are much changed from college, Jess; why, you'll be showing your ankles in public next!

    *shaking head*

  25. I saw this a couple of weeks ago at another blog I read and I thought of HAO immediately but I didn't email you. I had good intentions to though!
I gave it a go but couldn't seem to get the image the right size. I'll have to try again.
I had no idea I was reading such a risque blog, I mean really now!

  31. Hi, I created my Wordle but I can't post it on my blog. The link gives me a small frame. Can you please help me? Thank you.

  32. I took a screen shot (or screen capture) of the Wordle thingie and posted that on my blog. On a mac, press shift + apple + 4 and your cursor will turn into a little thing with crosshairs. Drag it to select the area you want a picture of, then release the mouse. The picture will appear on your desktop. On a PC, I have no idea how to do it. If you don't either, google "how to screen capture" or something.
