This happened just seconds ago. There I was, innocently making teapots in Illustrator, minding my own business, when a giant fly landed on my monitor right in front of my face. My first thought was to squash it, but I didn't want guts on my monitor. My second thought was how funny this looked, and since my camera was right next to me, I took his picture. Just a little window for you into the life of a designer. I will probably delete this post soon because it is disgusting.Okay, maybe I won't, since I see it was a big conversation starter. Who knew?
you either have a very small computer screen or that is one large fly! (I have a mac too, so I'm sure it's the latter)

I recently found a disturbingly enormous slug in my backyard (so big that I thought it was something to be "scooped" when I was out picking up after my big dogs!). I wanted to blog about it, because it was so unique (I live in a desert)and gross... but I didn't want to see that image over and over on my site. I wouldn't blame you for deleting the post, but I will give you props for posting it in the first place! Definitely noteworthy ;)

ReplyDeleteI don't find it disgusting. It is just a fly. Just an animal. A living creature. And if you look at the photo it is quite a nice shot. Imagine it is not a real fly but one that you made in Illustrator. :)

that is a big fly. i had one in my house for a while that would just follow me around. it really seemed he just wanted to be in the same room with me and the kids. sounds crazy, I know, but he became sort of a pet.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a horsefly, the type that like to bite. One of the horses I used to ride hated them so much that when one landed on him, he would literally throw himself on the ground and thrash about to try to get rid of it.

one time I had one of those teeny, tiny red spider mites somehow get INSIDE my screen. It was so bizarre. You don't realize the depth that is in your screen until you watch a bug crawl BEHIND stuff on it!! Fortunately he got out before he expired.

ReplyDeleteI hate flies! However I won't smash it on my computer screen, it's just too gross to clean up and everytime I look at the monitor I would think of that. So, no. But I will patiently waited until it landed on a window and then grab a roll of newspaper and ... you know. Window is easier to clean than wall. Let's just say I learned my lesson. BTW, I was the renowned fly killer back in college.
