Here's the ironing board cover I made from Herb using this easy tutorial. A perfect project for the sewing-challenged, like myself. If you can sew a somewhat straight line, you can make this. And a note: don't forget to leave the opening to feed your string through the casing. I sewed the whole thing shut and had to rip a couple stitches out. :)
Maybe I will actually iron my shirts now. Doubtful.
Great work Jess ! my iron board would need a major makeover ! but somehow i don't think that despite a better look i will iron more..i don't mind doing the dishes but i hate ironing ! :) shirts especially but it would be certainly nice to jazz it up a bit
ReplyDeleteVery nice! But don't believe her, peoples.... she's not as sewing-challenged as she claims (thinks?) she is. :-)
ReplyDeleteNah, Jess... you won't do any more ironing after the first shirt or two ironed just to admire your new cover and fabric. ;-)

I love this iron board!!!! Simply divine!!
ReplyDeleteJust saw this and thought you'd like to know!!! Congrats!!! Your fabulous fabric is everywhere!!! :-D
I hardly use my ironing board but this will be great to make it look prettier :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these patterns... can we ever get them in a file to use them for paper projects? Buy them digitally to use as desktop wallpaper?
ReplyDeleteWell at least I could turn the ironing board into a work of art. I use it for nothing else!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I've been wanting to do this so badly!! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletePlease stop giving me ideas! I've ordered my fabric and I'm waiting for it to wing its way over the Atlantic but by the time it gets here I will have too many ideas to choose from! For the sake of my sanity, please stop!
ReplyDeletei second sara's comment. i'd love to be able to buy these designs on paper, or digital files, where i could change up the colors. i love the designs, but the colors don't really go with anything in my house, so i haven't bought any of the fabrics (since i promised my fiance no more fabric purchases without a project in mind!).
ReplyDelete*looking around confused* yes, it's lovely, but ... but... it isn't ORANGE!
ReplyDelete:)
i get my modern flora order today!!! UPS said it was delivered - i can't wait to make stuff out of it!
ReplyDeletelove this! good for you! i'm putting this in my inspiration journal.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you really made this? Or is it Photoshopped? Hmmmm??? Don't forget, you showed us your crazy P-shop skills not too long ago.
ReplyDeleteI love it. I might make it!
too cute! anything that makes the tedious task or ironing more appealing is surely the work of a genuis.
ReplyDeletethat looks awesome!!
ReplyDeleteMom, I'm not kidding. The instructions said this would take 20 minutes, if I remember right. Try an hour and a half, plus I put in all my pins backwards so their heads were under my sewing machine foot with the sharp end pointing at me. It's hard to get them out that way. And I scratched myself with a pin, which bled some and is now kind of red and puffy and still hurts, but hopefully it will get better soon. Plus the sewing-the-casing-shut mishap.
ReplyDeletePhotoshop is WAY easier!
Robertaj, thanks for the link! I hadn't seen that. Very fun....
About putting out digital files, I don't think so. There's always a chance we'll reprint in a different colorway if selling goes well, so stay tuned.
I'd kiss your boo-boo if I could reach it!

Love that! I want one!
ReplyDeletethanks for the great idea! i can't wait to make my own.
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you. I've bought new (cute) ironing board covers three times, only to discover they don't quite fit my ugly, stained board. I think it's an odd size that doesn't fit anything, frankly. So this tutorial is perfect for me. I have some cute old sheets in my stash that would work perfectly, too.
ReplyDeletegreat projects ~the cover and the baskets down below and thank you both for the tutorials! i just rec'd your fabric in the mail today...love it and can't wait to make something with them!!
ReplyDeleteI cant stitch a thing even if my life depended on it..
ReplyDeleteNice work though ;)
I could make my ironing board match the corner of the room in which it lives? hmmmmm.... camouflage.
ReplyDeleteI really need a new ironing board cover. This saves me from having to buy one that I don't really like. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou don't iron your shirts?!?!
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked...shocked!

I always tell my boyfriend if I had a cute ironing board, or Dyson, I'd iron more, or vaccum. Haha. But it never works. Very cute pattern!
ReplyDeleteI've only just realised you've linked to me - thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link...my board definitely needs a makeover :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this would make me start ironing...it's so mod-hip!
ReplyDeleteer, we should take a vote to declare February the official Make a New Ironing Board Cover Month.. *I made one today before visiting your blog*
ReplyDeleteLove this! Nice fabric too. ;)
