Here's the ironing board cover I made from Herb using this easy tutorial. A perfect project for the sewing-challenged, like myself. If you can sew a somewhat straight line, you can make this. And a note: don't forget to leave the opening to feed your string through the casing. I sewed the whole thing shut and had to rip a couple stitches out. :) Maybe I will actually iron my shirts now. Doubtful.
Great work Jess ! my iron board would need a major makeover ! but somehow i don't think that despite a better look i will iron more..i don't mind doing the dishes but i hate ironing ! :) shirts especially but it would be certainly nice to jazz it up a bit

ReplyDeletei second sara's comment. i'd love to be able to buy these designs on paper, or digital files, where i could change up the colors. i love the designs, but the colors don't really go with anything in my house, so i haven't bought any of the fabrics (since i promised my fiance no more fabric purchases without a project in mind!).

ReplyDeleteMom, I'm not kidding. The instructions said this would take 20 minutes, if I remember right. Try an hour and a half, plus I put in all my pins backwards so their heads were under my sewing machine foot with the sharp end pointing at me. It's hard to get them out that way. And I scratched myself with a pin, which bled some and is now kind of red and puffy and still hurts, but hopefully it will get better soon. Plus the sewing-the-casing-shut mishap.

About putting out digital files, I don't think so. There's always a chance we'll reprint in a different colorway if selling goes well, so stay tuned.

I think it's an odd size that doesn't fit anything, frankly. So this tutorial is perfect for me. I have some cute old sheets in my stash that would work perfectly, too.
