I don't mean to make you all jealous, but...

I got Charley Harper plates for Christmas. A wonderful surprise.

[1/4/08 update: If you decide you need Charley Harper dishware, this pattern is called "Harper's Harvest" and is manufactured by Tag. You can get the cup and saucer set that matches my plates here, on sale now. The full product line is available from TAG here. And I discovered that Tag has a secret, hidden outlet store at 1730 West Wrightwood Avenue in Chicago. We were out and about yesterday and stopped in. They have four or five of the serving bowls, one platter, and one table runner in stock. And some great modern furniture, on an unrelated note, if you're looking for a coffee table, side table, or chairs.]

  11. They were in (rather, next to) my Christmas stocking at my grandma's house. Turns out a couple of my aunties found them in a shop in North Carolina and thought of me! Quite a stocking gift!

  16. The man is multi-talented! Illustrator AND one of the great jazz saxophonists of our time; is there anything he couldn't do?

Or am I thinking of someone else?

  17. I'm from Cincinnati, so I grew up with images of Charley's work all around me. He did posters for the Cincinnati Nature Center and you could buy his prints at the gift shop there. We always had them in my house growing up. It's kind of fun to have someone you always loved and knew about finally getting all the attention he deserves. Thankfully that began before he died and he was able to enjoy it, though I don't think he was really the kind of guy who cared about being in the spotlight! Enjoy your plates, they are beautiful!
