We just bought some of this grapefruit soda at Trader Joe's, and I love it. Real grapefruit taste, just a tiny bit sweet. So refreshing. I'm drinking it right now in front of my computer. I think I'm addicted.

1/2 grapefruit, hand juiced
3.0 oz light rum
1.0 oz Pimm's #1
shaken with ice, poured into 2 ice-filled highball glasses, topped off with Izze grapefruit soda.

ReplyDeleteFresh Market sells two different brands of grapefruit soda. One is GUS (grown up soda.) I forget the name of the other one, but they're both in the refrigerated and soda shelf sections. They're both a bit sweeter than the TJ's version.

ReplyDeleteI have a random martini that I made with this one night from random ingredients in my fridge/bar...my friends LOVE it!!

2 parts grapefruit soda
splash of POM
stir and serve in a martini glass or over ice if you want...either way, it's awesome!!
p.s.
...don't shake in a shaker unless you want it to explode (duh)

ReplyDeletei'm obsessed with trader joe's. i live walking distance within 2 of them. now whenever i go to a regular supermarket, i feel like i'm going to go into panic mode with all the overstimulation.
ReplyDeleteOh, this looks good. I have a weakness for the Safeway brand of grapefruit soda. Maybe this one has better ingredients? More actual juice? Unfortunately the nearest Trader Joe's is a day's drive away. Next time I'm around one of their stores, though, I'll have to try that kind
