I learned of Brazilian designer
Eduardo Recife from
The Scoop. He has designed several distressed typefaces and has generously made many of them available for free downloading
right here. Click the name of any typeface and you'll see a groovy poster design featuring that font and a link to download it. "Porcelain" is used above.
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteyou are a mine of info...how do you know where to go to get this stuff? Thanks though...I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteOh! I love that site. The Selfish typeface is great too. I have all of these fonts, and love them. He also has some awesome photoshop brushes. They're a real life saver when you want a stressed out look. I've used them so much! Here's a save the date card I did with the fonts: http://stitchriprepeat.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-other-side.html

ReplyDeleteThank you! I am so happy I found your blog : ) I agree with Suzie's comment. This site is a goldmine.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you! I Love fonts!
ReplyDeleteA great site. Glad he's getting some further shout outs. :)
ReplyDeleteOY! Thanks for that, I have now added some cool new fonts to my hard drive!
ReplyDeletethe fonts are BEAUTIFUL but i can't seem to get them to correctly download onto my hard drive, even after i unzip them! i've downloaded many fonts before, and for some reason i can't seem to get these to work. :( any tips?
ReplyDeletewhat a great site... thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteso cool, thanks!!
ReplyDeleteBeth, it's cool to see an example of how someone used them!
ReplyDeleteDanielle, hmm. Are you on a mac or a PC? If you don't have a mac, I have NO idea. I'm helpless on a PC. When I downloaded the fonts, I threw the font folder for each one into the font folder on my hard drive. (I'm not using Suitcase or any other font management utility.) When I opened an application, some of them were there in the fonts menu, ready to use. Some weren't, so I went back to the fonts folder and double-clicked on the font. A window popped up with an "install" button, which I clicked, and after that they worked. But I'm definitely not a troubleshooting tech person, so I can't help you beyond that! Good luck!
Jess,
ReplyDeleteI do have a PC, so that's probably what the problem is! I'm so disappointed though, because they're absolutely gorgeous. Oh well, if I can't work it out, then I'll just have to hope they'll still be around when I make the switch to Mac this winter... ;)
Until then, I'll continue enjoying everything else on your amazing site!
Thanks for the link! It was fun poking around there.
ReplyDeleteI just love HowAbouytOrange! The fonts were FABULOUS & I had no trouble downloading them -- I have a PC. (There is some helpful information on www.tackorama.net - under fonts, and then click on information.... BTW - I should mention they have some really great FREE retro stuff - vintage ads, fashion, design, decor, clipart, etc.)
ReplyDeleteThanks again Jess!
Ooops! I'm so sorry--- typo in the previous post...
ReplyDeleteIt should have read: I just love HowAboutOrange!
